  • Publication number: 20020037134
Abstract: An optical fiber, having a fiber cladding and a fiber core doped with laser active material, is embedded in an optical waveguide core having a refractive index almost equal to that of the optical fiber cladding, and pumping light is guided, in a side pumping manner, from the semiconductor laser via the light-guiding section. The guided pumping light is absorbed by the laser active material, as it propagates and moves around in the optical waveguide core in a fixed direction. Because the optical waveguide core is ring-shaped and enclosed by the optical waveguide cladding having a low refractive index, the rest of the guided pumping light propagates and moves around in the optical waveguide core again. Therefore, a laser active material in the optical fiber core can be pumped efficiently.

  • Patent number: 6345139
Abstract: Even if there is a temperature variation, a positional discrepancy at a colliding surface of an active surface of a semiconductor laser and an optical waveguide is suppressed, resulting in realization of a semiconductor light emitting element coupled with optical fiber of stable operation. In order to realize the above object, a semiconductor light emitting element coupled with optical fiber comprises a substrate, an optical waveguide disposed on the substrate and including a core and a cladding layer covering the core, a semiconductor light emitting element disposed on the substrate and comprising an output end-surface facing one end of the core of the optical waveguide, and an optical fiber comprising a core an end of which faces the other end of the core of the optical waveguide, wherein the cladding layer sandwiches both surfaces of the semiconductor light emitting element.

  • Patent number: 5962842
Abstract: An adhesive agent 116 is coated to a peripheral flat portion 115 of an optical glass 113. A center flat portion 114 is mounted to an opening portion 108 of a TAB tape 105 from the reverse side of which copper leads 107 are formed. Thus, the optical glass 113 and the TAB tape 105 are adhered. At this point, the center flat portion 114 and the TAB tape 105 are arranged almost on the same plane. Thus, protrusion of the adhesive agent 116 and foreign matter stuck on the optical glass 113 can be easily and securely removed.

  • Patent number: 4629127
Abstract: An intermittent swirl type injection valve having a spray angle, capacity coefficient and fuel spray travel distance set so that the valve produces optimum engine operating conditions, with the spray angle, capacity coefficient and fuel spray travel distances being determined taking into account the gap area A.sub.c, the spray hole diameter d.sub.e, and the area A.sub.g of tangential passages in the valve. The injection valve includes a valve body and a valve needle slidably fitted in a valve hole formed in the valve body. A spray hole in the valve body merges with a valve seat provided at an end of the valve hole, and the spray hole is shaped to receive the lower end of the valve needle. Tangential passages swirl the fuel when the needle valve leaves the valve seat to open the valve to spray fuel substantially conically through the spray hole. The injection valve is designed so as to satisfy the following conditions:.alpha.=20.degree. to 75.degree.,d.sub.e =0.3 to 1.2 mm,and ##EQU1## where .alpha.

  • Patent number: 4350510
Abstract: A centrifugal separator comprises a centrifugation chamber, gas inlet ports for introducing a gas into the centrifugation chamber so as to whirl the gas, a clean gas discharge pipe provided on the upper portion of the centrifugation chamber, and a guide member secured to the lower portion of the centrifugation chamber. The guide member has an annular groove, outer fine holes made in the groove, a guide portion projecting conically inward the centrifugation chamber, and an inner hole made in the center of the guide portion. A gas including particles is introduced into the centrifugation chamber, in which the particles are separated. The separated particles are trapped in the groove with gas, then discharged from the outer holes. The clean gas removed of the particles is guided by the guide member to direct to the gas discharge pipe, at the same time the particles with gas toward the guide member also are guided by the guide member to be subjected to the centrifugal force.
