  • Patent number: 7221830
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide an element connecting apparatus with which the position of a core of each element in an optical transmission module in a short time with high accuracy. To attain the object, in a core position detection method according to the present invention, upon detecting a core of a PLC chip, parallel light is made incident on the output side end face of the PLC chip, so that the core position is detected based on an image of the input side end face obtained with the parallel light. In addition, the core position is detected by an image of the output side end face that is obtained while parallel light is made incident on the input side end face.

  • Patent number: 5776672
Abstract: A single stranded nucleic acid probe having a base sequence complementary to the gene to be detected is immobilized onto the surface of an electrode or the tip of an optical fiber, and the nucleic probe is reacted with the gene sample denatured to a single stranded form, and then the nucleic acid probe hybridized with the gene is detected. In this procedure, to the reaction system consisting of the nucleic acid probe and the gene sample, a double stranded nucleic acid recognizing substance capable of binding specifically to the double stranded nucleic acid and being active electrochemically or optically is added. The detection of the nucleic acid probe is conducted by electrochemical or optical determination utilizing the electrode or optical fiber mentioned above. By this method, safer and more convenient detection of the gene is possible at a higher sensitivity even in a reduced time period.

  • Patent number: 5775413
Abstract: In a heat exchanger comprising a number of multilayered fins, and a refrigerant pipe arranged in the meandering form in the fins, and an air conditioner having the heat exchanger, each of the fins has a corrugated portion formed in an air-flow direction thereon, which has at least two wavelike portions for producing a turbulent flow of air having such strength that a temperature boundary layer of the air is broken, but resistance against to the air flow is not excessively high. Each wavelike portion may be designed to have a triangular section or a trapezoidal section, and a flat portion may be disposed between the wavelike portions.
