  • Patent number: 4861157
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for continuously photographing a road surface. The apparatus has a motion picture camera attached to an outside upper part of a vehicle body, a road surfacial light projector for projecting a beam of light onto a road surface to be photographed by the motion picture camera, and a vehicle speed detector so that an iris and a film feed speed of the motion picture camera may be controlled according to an output of the vehicle speed detector. According to such an arrangement, it has such advantages that a large-sized, expensive and large control apparatus is not required and also a lifetime of a lamp of the light projector is elongated.

  • Patent number: 4052712
Abstract: Apparatus for photo-recording road ruts comprising projecting a beam of light having a linear boundary between bright and dark portions from a light projector onto a road surface in the transverse direction of the road, and photographing the boundary portion in a camera from a position having a predetermined angular relation with the light projector. The projector and camera can be mounted on a vehicle such that the camera is at the predetermined angular position in relation to the light projector. A detecting device on the vehicle for detecting vehicular travel over a fixed distance can serve to operate the projector and the camera synchronously.
