  • Patent number: 8233201
Abstract: A copying machine includes a document skew detection section. The document skew detection section includes an angle calculation section and a judgment section. The angle calculation section specifies an angle ?1 formed between a reference direction and an edge of a document placed on a platen glass, in accordance with first input image data obtained by scanning the document the document being started to be scanned when an angle formed between the platen glass and a platen cover is ?°. Further, the angle calculation section specifies an angle ?2 formed between the reference direction and the edge of the document, in accordance with second input image data obtained by scanning the document, the document being started to be scanned when the angle formed between the platen glass and the platen cover is 0° Also, the judgment section generates an angular difference ? obtained by carrying out an operation of ?1??2. This makes it possible that the document which is unintentionally skewed be identified.

  • Publication number: 20080181534
Abstract: A document matching process section contains: features calculating section for extracting a plurality of connected components from input document images and calculating the centroids of the connected components and consequently determining the feature points; a features calculating section for calculating features of the document image from the distance between the calculated feature points; and a vote processing section for voting for a similar image in accordance with the calculated features, and uses the functions of this document matching process section and extracts the feature point from each of the two images and then correlates between the extracted feature points and consequently joins the images.

  • Patent number: 6690482
Abstract: The data of the partial images of an original output from an original input scanning device is converted by an image reducing section into reduced images of data in accordance with the size of duplication. Each reduced image of data is stored in a data storage. A pattern matching section compares adjoining reduced partial images of data as to the overlapping image data, to check the congruency therebetween. Based on this judgement result, an address setting section generates a joining position address corresponding to the joining position in each storage area. A data output control section loads the adjoining reduced partial images of data stored in respective storage areas, in a sequentially, joinable manner, so that an image forming section forms a duplicated image of the original on a predetermined recording medium in accordance with the reduced image data.

  • Patent number: 6507415
Abstract: An image processing device includes a scanner, which reads a plurality of images and inputs them as multivalue digital image data; a matching data producing section which, based on the inputted multivalue image data, produces matching data for joining the respective inputted images; a post-processing section, which binarizes the image data of each image inputted by the scanner; a joining section, which synthesizes the respective inputted images into a single image by joining the binary data produced by the post-processing section, which corresponds to the image data of the respective inputted images, on the basis of the matching data produced by the matching data producing section; and a printer for outputting the image joined by the joining section. Thus an image processing device can be provided which is capable of joining any type of image, whether from written characters, halftone dot, or photographic originals, and of performing this joining processing at high speed.

  • Patent number: 6381376
Abstract: An image processing device includes an intermediate processing section for appending identification data to each pixel, showing a kind of region to which each pixel belongs, based on multi-value image data of a plurality of input images entered from a scanner, and a matching data generating section for generating matching data of each pixel. A CPU classifies the kind of region to which each input image belongs based on the identification data of each pixel stored into an identification data memory by means of a connection processing section, and compares the matching data stored in a matching data memory after processed adequately depending on the kind of region. Then, the CPU extracts matching points of the input images and connects the binary image data of the input images using the extracted matching points as reference points. Consequently, a plurality of input images can be restored to a single image by being connected accurately whether the input images are picture, shadow, or picture images.

  • Patent number: 5145160
Abstract: An apparatus for manually sending a sheet of paper to the sheet handling machine (i.e., a feeding mechanism inside of a copying machine or printer) equipped with an automatic sheet-feeding cassette. The sheet sending apparatus is composed of an upper chute and a lower chute articulated by gears. When the apparatus is used, the chutes make a flat angle to smoothly pass a sheet to the feed roller and the lower chute press down the stacked sheets of the sheet cassette. When the apparatus is not used, the chutes rotate and the lower chute leaves the feed roller. A sheet guide is attached at the lower end of the lower chute to prevent the sheet sliding on the chutes from falling in the sheet cassette, and the parts of the sheet guide corresponding to the separator of the sheet cassette is removed to allow natural flipping action of the sheet when the sheet is drawn out of the sheet cassette.
