Abstract: A vertical lathe, including: a headstock provided on the upper side of a base so as to be capable of moving in the lateral direction and the vertical direction; a main spindle rotatably supported by the headstock; a workpiece chuck provided at the lower end section of the main spindle; a turret support stand provided so as to be capable of moving in the longitudinal direction orthogonal to the lateral direction and the vertical direction; an actuator for moving the turret support stand in the longitudinal direction; a turret having tool mounting parts provided at a plurality of circumferential positions, the turret being supported by the turret support stand so as to enable turn-indexing about the axis in the longitudinal direction; and a plurality of processing tools attached at each of the tool mounting parts so as to be set apart from each other in the longitudinal direction.
