Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus for sealing containers which comprises a sealing head 16 for sealing a peripheral edge portion of a lid L to the inner surface of a downwardly tapered body wall B of the container C. The sealing head 16 is provided with a seal holding face 72 fittable to the inner surface of the container body wall B. The seal holding face 72 has an upper region 91 and a lower region 92. Recesses 93 are formed respectively in a plurality of portions of the lower region 92 along the circumference thereof for absorbing the slack produced in the peripheral edge portion of the lid L at the time of sealing. The apparatus obviates faulty seals in containers and gives an improved aesthetic appearance to the sealed portion.

Abstract: A container sealing apparatus wherein a strip of closure material can be transported intermittently a desired distance at a time, and this distance is variable in accordance with the size of containers to be sealed to achieve savings in the material without wasting. The closure material is affixed to the opening edge portions of containers at a sealing station, and a closure is blanked out from the material affixed to each container, along the opening edge portion by a cutter before the container is delivered from the sealing station. The closure material is transported by means operable independently of the container transport operation.

Abstract: A container sealing apparatus comprising a conveyor for transporting containers, a sealer for sealing an opening edge portion of each of the containers with a closure material supplied adjacent to the container during transport by the conveyor, and a trimmer for blanking out a closure from the closure material affixed to the container, along the edge portion, the trimmer having a lifter for lifting the container from a path of transport of the container, a holder having a support for supporting the edge portion of the container lifted by the lifter and a cutter clearance groove formed externally of the support, and a cutter movable upward and downward so as to bring a cutting edge thereof into and out of the groove.

Abstract: A container transport conveyor having a plurality of holder plates each including a first segment and a second segment, the first and second segments being arranged side by side in the direction of transport by the conveyor for holding containers therebetween, a pair of first endless chains having the first segments connected therebetween, a pair of second endless chains having the second segments connected therebetween, a pair of first drive sprockets having the respective first endless chains reeved therearound, a pair of second drive sprockets having the respective second endless chains reeved therearound, and means for varying the phase difference between each of the first drive sprockets and each of the second drive sprockets.

Abstract: A device for filling a container with a highly viscous fluid substance comprises a tank for receiving the fluid substance of high viscosity; a communicating tube provided with a mechanism for discharging the substance in a constant flow rate and in communication with the tank; a filling nozzle connected to the discharging side of the communication tube and disposed so that a downward oriented discharge outlet thereof is positioned just above a path of a conveyor for transporting containers; an arm having an upper portion and a lower portion and to which the filling nozzle provided with a spool is mounted on the lower portion thereof; a horizontal axle supporting the arm in a freely rotatable and reversible manner at the upper portion thereof; and a mechanism for vibrating the arm on the horizontal axle serving as the vibration center.

Abstract: A packaging machine comprising a conveyor drivingly movable intermittently for transporting containers and having a capping station, the conveyor having a plurality of holders each adapted to support the container at its opening rim portion, the holders being stoppable at the capping station one after another; an assembly for capping the container by fitting the skirt of a cap to the opening rim portion of the container at a capping position above the path of travel of the holders in the capping station; and an assembly for centering the cap skirt and the container opening rim portion relative to each other for capping.
