  • Patent number: 4685690
Abstract: A suspension spring is provided with a telescopic member comprising a cylinder and a piston, and fluid pressurized by a pump is controlled by a control valve, and fed to the telescopic member or discharged therefrom. Due to the foregoing, the total length of the suspension springs is varied. Since the control valve is in association with a steering mechanism, either one of the pair of right and left suspension springs is expanded according to steering operation, while the other suspension spring is contracted. As a result, a vehicle body is inclined toward the turning center side. The inside of the cylinder may be defined into two upper and lower cylinder chambers by the piston, so that when fluid is fed to one of the cylinder chambers, the fluid is simultaneously discharged from the other cylinder chamber. The control valve is a rotary valve formed of an inner valve and an outer valve. Such rotary valves may be mounted on the respective suspension springs.

  • Patent number: 4659106
Abstract: Telescopic members which are expanded and contracted by means of a fluid pressure controlled by a steering mechanism are integrally connected to suspension springs. And when a vehicle makes a turn, the body is caused to decline toward the turning center side due to the telescopic movement of the telescopic members according to the steering operation. The fluid pressure may be fed from a hydraulic cylinder including a piston associated for movement with the steering mechanism. Alternatively, fluid pressurized by a pump may be fed through a controlling valve which is actuated in response to the steering mechanism. At a time when the vehicle makes a turn, a satisfactory steering sense similar to a motorcycle can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 4650213
Abstract: A steering member for reciprocating in the right and left direction relative to a vehicle body is connected with a tie rod. The steering member is engaged with a lean control member. The lean control member is mounted on the vehicle body for swinging in the right and left direction. The lean control member is mounted with an upper end of a suspension spring. When the steering member is reciprocated in the right and left direction, the lean control member is swung according to the reciprocation of the steering member. According to the foregoing swinging, the suspension spring pushes down or pulls up vehicle wheels relative to the vehicle body. As a result, the vehicle body is inclined toward the turning center side. In this way, a driver can enjoy the same steering sense as that of a motorcycle in an automobile or a motor tricycle.

  • Patent number: 4632413
Abstract: A suspension apparatus for a vehicle adapted to decline the body and/or the wheels toward the turning center side according to the steering operation when the vehicle makes a turn. In this suspension apparatus, the end portion of a suspension spring at the vehicle body side or the end portion of an upper arm at the vehicle body side are secured to a movable member associated with a steering operation member for movement. In the vehicle equipped with this suspension apparatus, driver can enjoy the similar steering sense or feeling as a motorcycle.

  • Patent number: 4246858
Abstract: A mechanism disposed in a sewing machine for sequentially performing, in regard to an operation of a single manually operable member while the needle being penetrated through a work fabric, shifting of a needle to a predetermined position above the work fabric due to a temporary slight rotation of the main shaft, retracting or withdrawal of a cam follower from tracking on a pattern cam, and transferring of the cam follower from one pattern cam to another. This mechanism virtually assures that during the pattern selection the needle never jogs laterally while the needle is penetrating through the work fabric, whereby the work damage and the needle breakage can surely be prevented.
