  • Patent number: 4489352
Abstract: A video signal recording/reproducing apparatus includes a first set of rotary heads mounted on a rotary disk and a second set of rotary heads mounted on head actuators which are also mounted on the rotary disk. The apparatus has two reproduction modes. A magnetic tape in the first reproduction mode is driven at a speed equal to the speed used in a recording mode. The magnetic tape in the second reproduction mode is driven at a speed which is different from the speed used in the recording mode. The apparatus has a negative feedback loop which detects the reproduced signal level of the second set of rotary heads and drives the head actuators in order to increase the reproduced signal level of the second set of rotary heads. In the first reproduction mode, the negative feedback loop is intermittently closed.

  • Patent number: 4456932
Abstract: In a rotary head magnetic recording and reproducing system, the continuity of the horizontal synchronous signals are obtained during an abnormal reproducing mode in which the speed of the magnetic tape in the reproducing mode is different from the speed of the magnetic tape in the recording mode by delaying the video signal for a predetermined time and repeating this operation for each field.

  • Patent number: 4451860
Abstract: A tracking-error correcting system in a rotary head magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus in which the reproducing magnetic heads can move in the direction of their axis of rotation by using a bi-morph leaf having piezoelectric elements. This system can automatically detect the tracking-error between the reproducing head and a recorded track, and move the reproducing head in a direction to attain better tracking position while the head is not in contact with the magnetic tape, so that either head's scanning trace is always parallel to the recorded track. The system is protected from jitter or color flicker on the monitor television screen when the heads move in the direction of their axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4344087
Abstract: A method of processing video signals for eliminating vertical picture fluctuations caused when a video tape recorder reproduces video signals at a tape speed different from that used for recording the video signals. The vertical picture fluctuations are eliminated by substituting distorted vertical synchronous signals for the original vertical synchronous signal, the distorted vertical synchronous signals generated by a processing apparatus having a correction circuit which corrects for the difference in frequency characteristics between the video signal path and the vertical synchronous signal path.

  • Patent number: 4327384
Abstract: A rotary head type magnetic tape recording/reproducing apparatus, by which a tracking condition of the reproducing heads and a recorded track can be automatically adjusted. This apparatus includes an oscillator for imparting small vibrations to the reproducing heads, a synchronous detector, an integration adder circuit including an adder and a delay circuit rotary heads mounted on a positionable element, and from the small vibrations. A tracking error signal which is derived by wobbling circuit is applied to the integration adder circuit, and the positionable element is controlled by the output signal of the integration adder means so as to construct a servo loop. Accordingly, proper tracking can be attained even for large tracking error.

  • Patent number: 4274117
Abstract: A record level setting system in a tape recorder, by which a record level can be automatically adjusted without damaging high fidelity of the recorded signals. The system comprises a variable gain circuit, a level detector, an A-D converter, an operation switch, a time generator and a peak hold circuit. The maximum input level in a signal to be recorded is processed for a predetermined period by controlling the amplitude of the input signal in accordance with the digital signal from the peak holder.
