  • Publication number: 20030210489
Abstract: A data eraser for erasing data recorded on a data recording medium, where data recorded on the recording medium can be erased in a short time period. Data produced in the CPU of the controller is stored in the memory as a random unit data; the unit data are repeatedly and continuously written in the memory to constitute record data for erasing purpose; the thus produced recording data for erasing are written on the hard disc to erase the data memorized in the hard disc. Since the time for producing random data, which normally takes time, is shortened, the time for proceeding as a whole can be shortened.

  • Patent number: 5742299
Abstract: There is provided an information processing apparatus having a detachable first ROM cartridge in which a control program and other information are stored; an instructing device to instruct whether the control program stored in the ROM cartridge is to be executed or not when the ROM cartridge is attached; a control circuit to control operation in response to an instruction of the instructing device; a second ROM cartridge which is provided in the apparatus and in which a control program is stored; and a detector to detect whether the first ROM cartridge is attached or not. When the instructing device instructs not to execute the control program stored in the first ROM cartridge, the control circuit allows the control program stored in the second ROM cartridge to be executed. With this apparatus, when the detachable ROM cartridge is attached, the information other than the control program can be read out of this ROM cartridge and can be used for various processes.

  • Patent number: 5648812
Abstract: A printing system which controls whether to print on a manually-inserted sheet or a sheet fed from within a sheet cassette. Data received from a data source includes both print data and instruction data which indicates whether to print on a manually-inserted sheet or a sheet from within the sheet cassette. The received data is discriminated to determine whether it is instruction data or print data, and the instruction data is discriminated to determine whether it indicates to print on a manually-inserted sheet or a sheet from within the sheet cassette. The printer is thereafter controlled so as to print an image corresponding to the print data on a sheet fed in accordance with the discrimination of the instruction data.

  • Patent number: 5197123
Abstract: A control apparatus and method, in which a format for a particular instance of recording is designated or set, as by instructions from a host computer, or from an operator via a keyboard, and that desired format is used or not, according to whether the necessary information for that format is present in a memory (preferably non-volatile). If the necessary format information is present in the memory, the desired format is used for recording, while otherwise, a default format is used instead or the information for the desired format is supplied to the memory.

  • Patent number: 5058035
Abstract: In the disclosed recording apparatus, the printing condition of a format, for example of a business form, can be suitably modified by an instruction from a host computer. The modified format is then stored in a non-volatile memory, so that it need not be readjusted repeatedly for repeated printing operation.

  • Patent number: 4814892
Abstract: There is a recording apparatus such as a laser beam printer comprising: a host computer as an external unit for inputting data to be recorded and control command to process the recording data; a recorder to record onto a recording medium in accordance with the input data; an error detector to detect errors in the input control commands; a data generator to generate an error code indicative of the occurrence of the error when the error is detected by the error detector; and a controller to control the recorder so as to record the error code onto the recording medium together with the input data. The error code is recorded as an error pattern of a visible image to the end portion of the recording medium such as a cut sheet paper. With the apparatus, the operator can easily know of the occurrence of the error in the input data and the kind and position of the error without interrupting the recording operation. The recording efficiency is improved.
