    Abstract: A polarizing film which comprises a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin film and iodine being adsorbed thereon and oriented, and is prepared, for example, by subjecting the polyvinyl alcohol-based resin film to a dyeing treatment, to a stretching treatment, to a boric acid treatment and further to a complementary color treatment in which the film is immersed in a solution containing a chlorinated compound. The polarizing film is so adjusted as to have a boric acid content of 5 to 40 weight % by the dyeing treatment, stretching treatment and boric acid treatment, and also to have a chlorine ion content of 200 to 10,000 ppm by the complementary color treatment. The above polarizing film retains an achromatic hue when it is arranged at a parallel Nicol position, and also exhibits improved durability of its optical characteristics under a high temperature and high humidity condition, and a high temperature condition.

    Abstract: A magnetic head is disclosed which includes in a preferred embodiment a head core (1) sandwiched between a first slider (2) and a second slider (3) both bonded to the core (1), said first and second sliders (2) and (3) being made from a resin composition comprising an epoxy resin composition and a filler comprising silica having a coefficient of thermal expansion of from 5.times.10.sup.-7 to 6.times.10.sup.-7 /.degree. C. as the main component and from 3 to 30 wt % at least one minor component selected from alumina, mullite, barium titanate, forsterite, steatite, and zircon, the amount of the filler being from 50 to 95 wt % based on the amount of the epoxy resin composition. The magnetic head is inexpensive, does not suffer deterioration of the magnetic characteristics of the head core, and is free from the problem of sticking to a floppy disk, head wear, or media wear.

A fused core block is manufactured using Mn-Zn ferrite having a mean crystal grain size of equal to or less than 30 .mu.m as the core material of at least the recording and reproducing head and glass fusion using one type of glass, and the fused core block is annealed at a temperature equal to or higher than the strain point of the glass.

    Abstract: A method for producing a ceramic-metal composite substrate, which comprises integrally bonding together a ceramic base member, metal members of a material selected from the group consisting of copper and alloys thereof, and a constraining member to be bonded to the metal member, wherein improvement comprises: bringing the metal member into close contact with ceramic base member through a thin film layer having a thickness of from 0.1 .mu.m to 3 .mu.m and containing therein an active metal; and heating the combination of the ceramic base member, the metal member, and the constraining member in an atmosphere which is difficult to react with the active metal, to a temperature ranging from a melting point of an alloy to be formed of the metal member and the active metal to a temperature below the melting point of the metal member, while applying a pressing force to combination in the direction of its thickness, thereby realizing the integral bonding.
