Abstract: A television signal transmitted to and received by a television receiver is subject to waveform distortion while it is transmitted through the transmission path including the internal circuits of the television receiver. Such waveform distortion is automatically eliminated by an equalizer whose operating characteristic is controlled by a signal obtained by comparing the waveform of a signal to be transmitted with a constant waveform in the received television signal with the waveform of a reference signal generated by a reference signal generator. A transversal filter is used as this equalizer.
