    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier to carry a toner image, intermediate, primary, and secondary transfer members, and a voltage application member. The voltage application member applies a voltage to the image carrier. The secondary transfer member is in contact with an outer circumferential surface of the intermediate transfer member. The toner image carried on the image carrier is primarily transferred onto the intermediate transfer member in a state where the voltage application member applies the voltage to the image carrier. The intermediate transfer member has a volume resistivity from 5×107 ?·cm to 2×1011 ?·cm inclusive. A relation ?s1/?s2?1.5 is satisfied, where ?s1 denotes a surface resistivity which is measured from the outer circumferential surface of the intermediate transfer member and ?s2 denotes a surface resistivity which is measured from an inner circumferential surface of the intermediate transfer member.

    Abstract: A controller of a cantilever evaluation system calculates a stream function value ?z(x, y; t+1) and vorticity ?z(x, y; t+1) at a subsequent time step t+1 using boundary conditions according to displacement h(z; t) of a cantilever and velocity ?h/?t(z; t), a stream function value ?z(x, y; t) and vorticity ?z(x, y; t) in two-dimensional planes. The controller uses the calculated stream function value ?z(x, y) and vorticity ?z(x, y) to calculate a fluid drag force acting on the cantilever. The controller substitutes the calculated fluid drag force into a displacement calculation equation to calculate the displacement h(z; t+1) of the one-dimensional beam at the subsequent time step t+1. The controller repeats such calculation for each grid point and further repeats it at each time step.

Some physical storage apparatuses 14 connected to a host computer 10 via a communication network 12 are virtualized with a virtual switch 18, a control unit 20, and a virtual device 22. The physical storage apparatus specifies a command when receiving the command from the host computer 10, and accesses, if the command access has been made to its own physical storage apparatus, a real disk via the virtual control unit 20 and virtual device 22, and executes I/O processing. If the command access is not made to its own physical storage apparatus, the physical storage apparatus 14 directs the command to the transmission target via the virtual switch 18. The physical storage apparatuses 14 are integrally managed according to the command in the above described manner.
