  • Publication number: 20240068422
Abstract: An upstream integrated value is an integrated value of a difference obtained by subtracting an upstream gas temperature at a starting point in time of integration from the upstream gas temperature after starting of the internal combustion engine. A downstream integrated value is an integrated value of a difference obtained by subtracting a downstream gas temperature at the starting point in time of the integration from the downstream gas temperature after the starting of the internal combustion engine. An anomaly diagnosing process obtains an anomaly determination result indicating that the exhaust purification device is in a removed state when a deviation between the upstream integrated value and the downstream integrated value is smaller than a reference level. The determination threshold is higher than a dew point.

  • Patent number: 5957992
Abstract: A vehicular constant-speed running system converges a vehicle speed control of a vehicle quickly to a target vehicle speed when the vehicle is set in a cruise control mode. The vehicular constant-speed running system includes a constant-speed running section for controlling a throttle opening independently of an accelerator opening to maintain a vehicle at a target vehicle speed. It also includes an initial opening setting section which, at the time of transfer by the constant-speed running section, sets the throttle opening before the transfer to an initial value at the time of the transfer if the throttle opening is in a region which is preset based on either the vehicle speed at the time of the transfer or a parameter correlated with the vehicle speed. If the throttle opening is not in this region, the initial opening setting section sets the same throttle opening to the upper limit and/or the lower limit of that region.

  • Patent number: 5447133
Abstract: A throttle control apparatus includes an electrical drive unit for electrically driving a throttle of an internal combustion engine and a mechanical drive unit for driving the throttle through the operation of an accelerator by a driver. In the case where an abnormality is generated in the electrical drive unit, the driving of the throttle by the electrical drive unit is interrupted and the throttle is thereinstead driven by the mechanical drive unit. The mechanical drive unit is provided with a throttle opening angle control member. The throttle control apparatus further includes a torque control unit for suppressing an increase in output torque of the internal combustion engine in the case where a throttle opening angle is increased in the direction of an opening angle set by the throttle opening angle control member when the driving of the throttle by the electrical drive unit is interrupted.

  • Patent number: 4919103
Abstract: An apparatus for treating fuel vapor, such as in a motor vehicle fuel tank, by subjecting it to adsorption treatment to prevent its direct emission into the atmosphere. The apparatus according to the present invention comprises a fuel tank, a partitioning wall provided within the fuel tank to define a small fuel storage chamber within the fuel tank, a canister container housed in the small fuel storage chamber, the canister container storing therein a fuel adsorbing material. When fuel feeding takes place, feeding fuel is introduced into the small fuel storage chamber to cool the canister container. However, when the engine is operated, high temperature return fuel is introduced into the small storage chamber to heat the canister container thereby promoting the adsorbing and de-adsorbing action of fuel by the fuel adsorbing material.

  • Patent number: 4854283
Abstract: A control apparatus for electrically operating a throttle valve adapted to adjust the amount of air drawn into an internal combustion engine to adjust the position of the throttle valve. The position and operating condition of an accelerator pedal are electrically detected to generate a signal in accordance with the accelerator position to drive an actuator adapted to operate the throttle valve, and also a desired throttle position established by the signal, the detected actual position of the throttle valve and the operating condition of the accelerator pedal are suitably compared and examined, thus monitoring to see whether the detection of the accelerator position is not faulty, whether the throttle valve is controlled to follow the desired throttle position and so on and thereby performing a safe control by using a substitute desired position upon occurrence of a faulty condition.

  • Patent number: 4850325
Abstract: A fault detection system for detecting a fault of a subcontrol apparatus as well as a main control apparatus backed up thereby in controlling the operation of an actuator for an internal combustion engine control apparatus such as a throttle control apparatus is disclosed. A second fault detection apparatus for the subcontrol apparatus is made up of a CPU consituting the main control apparatus, so that the fault detection apparatus for the subcontrol apparatus operates under condition that the main control apparatus is normal and the engine is preferably under a light load of operation. Each of the main control and the backup subcontrol apparatuses includes a fault detection apparatus, thereby preventing simultaneous fault of the two control apparatuses for improved safety of the vehicle drive.

  • Patent number: 4817576
Abstract: A vaporized fuel control apparatus for an internal combustion engine. Fuel vapor formed in the fuel tank during the refuelling period is adsorbed to a refuelling canister and fuel vapor formed in the fuel tank during the engine running period is adsorbed to a running canister. The canisters are controlled in a manner that the amount of the fuel vapor discharged into the intake system of the engine from the refuelling canister is smaller than that of the running canister.
