Patent number: 8657396Abstract: There is a case where, in the individual tank number checking processing, usually it is determined that individual tank number agreement can not be confirmed due to a collision of response signals from two tanks. However, due to individual differences among main body side control circuit threshold values and the like, there may be a case that an agreement of the individual tank numbers is confirmed. In response to this, the tank that has the individual tank number whose agreement could be confirmed is put in a sleep state, and because a control code is sent, the other tank designated with color ID is able to return its individual tank number, and the main body side control circuit detects its individual tank number. Based on this it is possible to determine that multiple ink tanks with the same color ID are mounted.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2011Date of Patent: February 25, 2014Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masashi Ogawa, Kenjiro Watanabe

Patent number: 8485642Abstract: An ink tank is attachable to the attachment section by positioning first engagement sections at first fitting sections on the attachment section and then locking a second engagement section to a second fitting section of the attachment section by rotating the tank. The multiple supply ports are arranged on a bottom face of the tank such that the supply ports are on both sides of a center line in a width direction of the tank, and that distances between each of abutting centers configured to abut ink receiving parts of the attachment section, and the first engagement section side in a direction along a center line are mutually different. It is possible to avoid reception of a reactive force to the ink receiving parts at one time when rotating and attaching the tank, and to achieve stable attachment while suppressing excessive inclination of the tank at the time of attachment.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2007Date of Patent: July 16, 2013Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hiroki Hayashi, Wataru Takahashi, Masashi Ogawa, Kenji Kitabatake
