  • Patent number: 6891333
Abstract: A vehicle headlamp is constituted to have a plurality of lamp units having light-emitting diodes as light sources. At that time, three types of lamp units of different radiation modes; that is, a projector-type lamp unit, direct-projection-type lamp units, and a reflection-type lamp unit, are used as the plurality of lamp units. As a result, a low-beam light distribution pattern obtained as a merged light distribution pattern formed from the light rays output from these three types of lamp units can be readily formed in a desired pattern geometry and a desired distribution of luminous intensity.

  • Publication number: 20050094411
Abstract: Whereas a light source bulb is used as a light source of a basic lamp piece unit which needs a large amount of irradiating light, with regard to an additional lamp piece unit lighted on and off repeatedly in accordance with a situation of running a vehicle, a semiconductor light emitting element having a fast response speed in being lighted on and off and excellent in durability against repeatedly lighting on and off the semiconductor light emitting element 64 as a light source thereof. Thereby, light can be irradiated in correspondence with the situation of running the vehicle and life of the light source can sufficiently been ensured. • Publication number: 20050094414
Abstract: A plurality of lamp piece units constituting light sources by semiconductor light emitting elements are used as a first lamp piece unit which is lighted in a low beam mode. Additionally, a single lamp piece unit constituting a light source by an electric discharge bulb color temperature of emitted light of which is as high as that of the semiconductor light emitting element, is used as a second lamp piece unit, which is additionally lighted in a high beam mode. When the beam is switched from the low beam to the high beam, pale irradiated light from the first lamp piece unit is added with pale irradiated light from the second lamp piece unit to thereby provide an impression for the driver and/or passenger of unity in colors between the two lamp piece units.

  • Publication number: 20050094413
Abstract: Lamp piece units in a parabolic pillar type capable of forming a luminous intensity distribution pattern prolonged sideways are formed as side irradiating lamp piece units. Thereby, a portion of diffused and reflected light from reflectors of the respective side irradiating lamp piece units is prevented from being blocked by other lamp piece constituting members, even when a surface shape of a vehicular headlamp is flexed to the rear side. Further, although the respective side irradiating lamp piece units are constituted by the lamp piece units of the parabolic pillar type having an angular outer shape as a whole, a large depth space for arranging the units is dispensed with.

  • Patent number: 6821004
Abstract: A lighting unit for a low beam is provided with a movable shade constituted to take a shielding position in which a part of light incident on a reflector from a light source is shielded and a shielding release position in which the shielding is released. When a vehicle speed exceeds a predetermined set vehicle speed, or when a vehicle turns toward the opposite lane side, the movable shade is moved to the shielding release position, thereby adding auxiliary light distribution patterns P(B) and P(C) having cutoff lines CLb and CLc above cutoff lines CL1 and CL2 of a low beam distribution pattern P(L) to the low beam distribution pattern P(L) to carry out beam irradiation. Thus, the visibility of a distant road is enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20040136202
Abstract: A vehicular headlamp employing a light-emitting element such as an LED and having an improved projected light pattern. A light-emitting surface of the light-emitting element has a horizontally elongated shape when viewed in a direction orthogonal to the optical axis of the light-emitting element so as to form a light distribution pattern which is enlarged through an optical system mainly in the horizontal direction. Since the projected pattern is obtained by enlarging the horizontally elongated light source image, it is easier to design the light distribution of the lamp in comparison to a case where the light intensity distribution of the light-emitting element is rotationally symmetric.
