  • Patent number: 6820018
Abstract: Disclosed is a power control circuit utilizable in an electronic device. The power control circuit includes a power on/off switch having first and second switches; a capacitive element connected to a power section via the first switch; a first switching element connected to the power section via the second switch; a microcomputer for controlling power on/off of the first switching element; and a second switching element provided between the power section and each of the microcomputer and a predetermined circuit block. The microcomputer is programmed to control the power control circuit such that, when supplying power to the microcomputer, the microcomputer holds a power-on state of the first switching element before the first switching element is turned off because of the discharge of the electric charge, and then, when the microcomputer detects that the predetermined circuit block has not operated for a given period of time, the microcomputer turns off the first switching element.

  • Publication number: 20030095158
Abstract: Disclosed is a printer. A printer of the present invention has: a printer body; a printer head movably mounted on said printer body for reciprocating with respect to said printer body; a sensor for detecting a movement of said printer head; head turnback position detecting means for detecting a turnback position of said printer head based on pulse signals output from said sensor; pulse resolution changing means for changing a resolution of the pulse signals from said sensor based on a detected result obtained by said head turnback position detecting means and generating a reference pulse signal for a printing position. The printer carries out a printing operation via said printer head as the printer determines the position of said printer head based on the reference pulse signal for the printing position.

  • Publication number: 20030081032
Abstract: Disclosed is a printer having image processing means. The image processing means includes a microcomputer and an image processing block. The image processing block carries out color conversion processing to convert image data for color display, which is comprised of a plurality of colors, into image data for color printing, which is comprised of a plurality of colors corresponding to the plurality of colors of the image data for color display, respectively. The image processing block has an operation block for carrying out at least a part of the color conversion processing according to color conversion formulas for converting the image data for color display into the image data for color printing.

  • Patent number: 6542323
Abstract: A tape running control method in which a tape runs between a supply reel and a take-up reel, and a rotation speed of said take-up reel is controlled by using rotation periods of said supply reel and said take-up reel, whereby a running speed of said tape is controlled. The method comprises the steps of detecting a thickness of said tape; calculating a predetermined total tape wound amount by using the detected thickness of said tape; and controlling the rotation speed of said take-up reel by using the thus-calculated total tape wound amount.

  • Publication number: 20030016380
Abstract: Disclosed is a printer that reproduces an image corresponding to the image data input from a source for supplying image data. The printer comprises an oscillator, a memory, a microcomputer, a gate IC, an LED driver, an LED head, a motor driver and a motor, a linear scale and a linear sensor, a heater driver and a heater, a sensor, and an EEPROM. When printing out the printer stores information on the state of the printer according to the status of printing in the EEPROM. If the power is turned on after the power has been turned off, the printer reads out the information stored in the EEPROM, and analyzes the information. If the printing paper is left in the printer, the printer delivers this printing paper.

  • Patent number: 6079652
Abstract: A tape-thickness measuring method is used in a tape running apparatus in which a tape runs between a supply reel and a take-up reel. In the method, rotation periods of the supply reel and the take-up reel are detected when the take-up reel rotates predetermined numbers of revolutions, a number of turns of the tape remaining on the supply reel is calculated by using the thus-detected rotation periods, and a thickness of the tape is calculated by using the thus-calculated number of turns of the tape remaining on the supply reel.
