    Abstract: A double system of fuel injection type internal combustion engine includes: a direct injection injector and a port fuel injection injector; a control unit for changing a fuel injection distribution ratio of fuels injected from these injectors; a delivery pipe for the direct injection injector; a high pressure fuel pump; a fuel pressure sensor and a fuel temperature sensor for detecting a fuel pressure and a fuel temperature in the delivery pipe; and a fuel regulating unit for regulating the fuel pressure and fuel temperature in the delivery pipe. The control unit can control the fuel regulating unit so as to lower the exceeding value thereof when the fuel injection distribution ratio of the port fuel injection injector is higher than that of the direct injection injector and at least one of the fuel pressure value and fuel temperature value exceeds an aimed value.

    Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes an engine control unit for setting a ratio of fuel injection quantity of both the injectors. The engine control unit includes a memory storing four sheets of ignition timing maps, with reference to which the maximum torque generation timing and knocking limit torque generation timing, at the direct injection injector (100%) and port fuel injection injector (100%), are calculated. The engine control unit further operates to calculate a correction amount from correction amount map, and calculates first interpolation value of the maximum torque generation timing at the above 100% operation time of both the injectors and second interpolation value of the knocking limit torque generation timing at the above 100% operation time of both the injectors. A value in which the correction amount is added to either one of the above first and second interpolation value on a delay angle side is calculated as ignition timing.

The intake system includes an intake manifold connected to the cylinder head via a mounting flange such that a passage through the manifold is aligned with an intake passage through the cylinder head. The exhaust system includes an exhaust manifold connected to the cylinder head via a mounting flange such that an exhaust passage leading through the cylinder head is aligned with a passage through the exhaust manifold. The recirculation system includes a recirculation passage extending from the passage through the exhaust manifold through the flange thereof, through the cylinder head and then through the flange of the intake manifold into the passage thereof.

    Abstract: An induction system for a multi-valve internal combustion engine including a control valve arrangement for redirecting the flow into the combustion chamber through a relatively small displaced bypass passageway under certain running conditions so as to provide a high velocity flow into the combustion chamber even though the total air flow is small. The flow is also directed so as to generate a slant-type tumble motion in the combustion chamber to further increase the turbulence and improve combustion under the running conditions when the control valve is in its flow restricting flow redirecting position. The bypass passage has a relatively regular configuration with a low peripheral length to cross-sectional area ratio so as to provide a compact overall assembly and to facilitate manufacturing. In the open position, the control valve offers substantially no restriction to air flow so that high power outputs can be achieved while still maintaining good running under low-speed, low-load conditions.

    Abstract: A cylinder head and induction passage arrangement for a three intake valve internal combustion engine wherein the center intake passage and its porting arrangement is directed so as to augment the tumble action caused by the side valve seats and their intake passages. The construction also provides that the center intake valve will be disposed so that there will be no shrouded area in the path of flame from the spark plug so as to ensure complete combustion. The cylinder head is made in such a way that the same cylinder head may be used for either bank of an engine having angularly inclined cylinder banks through the machining of only one face thereof.
