Abstract: An energy cost prediction unit predicts an energy cost for the next travel. A lifetime prediction unit uses a charge amount—lifetime map to predict the lifetime of a power storage device according to an amount of charge to the power storage device. A usage cost prediction unit predicts the cost of using the power storage device according to the amount of charge to the power storage device, based on the lifetime of the power storage device predicted by the lifetime prediction unit. The predicted cost associated with the amount of charge to the power storage device is indicated on a display device. • Publication number: 20100010704
Abstract: A vehicle identifying unit obtains an identification number of a vehicle from the vehicle. A first evaluation unit evaluates a degradation state of a power storage device based on the use history of the power storage device obtained from the vehicle, using data analyzed beforehand concerning the relation between the use history and the degradation state of the power storage device. A second evaluation unit evaluates a degradation state of the power storage device using data collected when the power storage device of the vehicle is charged from a power station or when power is fed from the vehicle to the power station. A degradation determining unit determines the degradation state of the power storage device based on the degradation states evaluated by the first and second evaluation units.

  • Patent number: 6127805
Abstract: In the area of the charge level of 20.about.80% where the charge level of a battery does not appear in the terminal voltage of the battery, the battery ECU estimates charge level by integrating the currents of the charge and discharge of the battery. When the engine ECU detects that the ignition key is turned on, the motor generators are driven by the engine, and the generated electric power is accumulated in the battery. When the area where the charge level appears in the terminal voltage, is reached, the calculation of the charge level is performed from the current and voltage at that time. When this charge level has reached 80%, the calibration of said estimated charge level is performed by this value. Furthermore, it is also possible for this calibration to be prohibited when a heavy current is flowing and the error may become large in the calculation of the charge level. By the above mentioned methods, the charge level of a battery can accurately be detected.

  • Patent number: 6025691
Abstract: A synchronous motor control system which can freely regulate n-phase electric currents in a synchronous motor to control the characteristics of the synchronous motor. The synchronous motor control system can enhance the output torque per unit weight of a synchronous motor (40) simultaneously with reducing torque ripples. The waveform of three phase alternating currents is freely corrected over a range of +30 degrees from a specified electrical angle, at which a target phase current drawing a sine-wave curve reaches its peak value. It is assumed that this range of .+-.30 degrees corresponds to a range of 0 degree to 60 degrees. By way of example, the waveform is controlled to the peak value of the phase current in a range of 0 degree to 28 degrees. The correction of the phase current is carried out for the target phase which produces the primary magnetic flux of a revolving magnetic field.

  • Patent number: 5936312
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to carry out control and enable an engine to output a desired power, thereby preventing unexpected charge or discharge of storage battery means. A power output apparatus of the present invention sets energy Pe to be output from an engine, in order to cancel a deviation .DELTA.Pb of a charge-discharge electric power Pb of a battery from its target value Pb* , and controls operation of the engine to output the energy Pe. The energy Pe output from the engine is subjected to torque conversion by means of a clutch motor and an assist motor and output to a drive shaft as a required power. In case that the converted energy is not equal to the required power, the battery is charged with the surplus electric power or is discharged to supplement the shortage of electric power. Namely regulation of the energy Pe results in controlling the charge-discharge electric power Pb of the battery.

  • Patent number: 5909094
Abstract: A power output apparatus (20) of the invention includes an engine (50), a clutch motor (30), an assist motor (40), and a controller (80) for controlling the clutch motor (30) and the assist motor (40). In response to an engine stop signal to stop operation of the engine (50), the controller (80) successively lowers a torque command value of the clutch motor (30) and a target engine torque and a target engine speed of the engine (50) to make the engine (50) kept at an idle. The assist motor (40) is controlled to use power stored in a battery (94) and make up for a decrease in torque output to a drive shaft (22) accompanied by the decrease in torque command value of the clutch motor (30). When the engine (50) falls in the idling state, supply of fuel into the engine (50) is stopped to terminate operation of the engine (50). In this state, the drive shaft (22) is driven and operated only by the torque of the assist motor (40), which is generated by the power stored in the battery (94).
