  • Patent number: 7221480
Abstract: A color conversion section converts R-, G- and B-image signals input by the reading of a color image on an original to C-, M- and Y-color signals. A histogram producing means of an image processing section produces density histograms of the respective color signals on the basis of the converted C-, M- and Y-color signals. An original type determination means determines a type of the original on the basis of the histogram data signals. A colored background determination means determines a colored background on the basis of the histogram data signals. A background process presence/absence determination means determines whether a background process is to be executed or not, on the basis of an original type determination result signal and a colored background determination result signal. A CPU produces, when it is determined that the background process is to be executed, a background process table using the density histogram values of the respective color signals.

  • Publication number: 20070109573
Abstract: A method and apparatus of printing a document in a twin color copy mode of an image forming apparatus. A first color and a second color are selected in the twin color copy mode of the image forming apparatus. The document to be printed is scanned, and an automatic color selection (ACS) unit determines whether or not the scanned document is a color document or a B/W document. Based on the determination by the ACS unit, the document is printed as either a B/W document using black processing or as a color document using color processing.

  • Patent number: 7120294
Abstract: A main CPU re-calculates, when the degree of sharpness has been adjusted, a coefficient in accordance with the value of adjustment. The main CPU finds a maximum bit number from the calculated filter coefficients, effects a bit shift of the filter coefficients in accordance with the size (bit width) of a filter coefficient register, and stores the bit-shifted filter coefficients in the filter coefficients register, thus carrying out a filtering process.

  • Patent number: 6930810
Abstract: A main CPU reads out CMY values as ? correction patch data from an NVRAM, and outputs a ? correction patch from a color printer section via a ? correction patch output section. The output ? correction patch (sheet) is read by a color scanner section 1 as RGB image data. The RGB image data is converted to CMY color signals by a color conversion section 131 and input to the main CPU via a buffer memory. The main CPU calculates patch read data from the CMY color signals and compares it with the ? correction patch data stored in the NVRAM. The main CPU then calculates an inverse function of a curve of the patch read data and forms ? correction tables of four colors, C, M, Y and K. The ? correction tables are used for full-color ? correction. On the other hand, the main CPU performs an arithmetic operation (error correction) of an error correction table h(x), with an output of black (K) at screen angle ?63° being f(x) and an output of mono-color black (K) at screen angle 90° being g(x).
