  • Patent number: 7190516
Abstract: There is provided a screen, which, with a simple configuration, is capable of effectively utilizing light projected thereon and realizing an even luminance distribution on the screen. This screen has a diffusion layer whose diffusion characteristic expressed as a luminance distribution with respect to a scattering angle of incident light incident at an angle of 0° is varied such that the peak position of the luminance distribution is shifted towards a greater value of scattering angle in the direction of the central portion of the screen the greater the distance from the central portion of the screen is. The present invention also provides an optical film suitable for use in such a screen, and a manufacturing method therefor.

  • Publication number: 20070035827
Abstract: A reflective screen includes a light reflecting layer, and a light diffusing layer provided on the light reflecting layer. The light diffusing layer has the diffusion property that in one (A axis) of two perpendicular axial directions on a light diffusion plane, a luminance distribution curve versus incidence angle is asymmetric with respect to the zero-incidence-angle axis, and the side on which the incidence angle (half-luminance incidence angle) with half of a peak luminance on the A axis in the normal direction to the screen plane is small faces in a direction in which external light has the highest strength.

  • Patent number: 7095557
Abstract: A projection screen includes a plurality of convex portions serving as a light diffusion control portion, on the surface of a substrate. An optical thin film overlies the substrate and has convex portions having the same shape as that of the convex portions of the substrate. When external light enters the optical thin film with light in three primary color wavelength bands, the optical thin film reflects only the light in the three color wavelength bands and absorbs at least visible light of the external light. When light in the three primary color wavelength bands perpendicularly enters the optical thin film, the rays of the light have incident angles at the convex portions of the optical thin film and diffuse-reflected at angles twice the incident angles. Thus, a predetermined percentage of the light is diffused to increase the viewing angle of the screen.

  • Patent number: 6579422
Abstract: A whole organic EL display fabricating apparatus is provided inside a vacuum chamber. In this case, a first patterning unit B through a third patterning unit D for sequentially forming luminescent layer patterns of GREEN, BLUE, and RED on an anode pattern on a strip-shaped flexible substrate 1, and a fourth patterning unit E for forming a cathode pattern on the subsequent stage are provided. The first patterning unit B is provided with a first cooling can 21 and a vacuum vapor deposition unit below for forming the luminescent layer pattern of GREEN. The structures of the second patterning unit through the fourth patterning unit are similar to that of the first patterning unit. In fabricating a display, the substrate 1 is caused to travel from the first cooling can 21 toward a fourth cooling can 64 by the roll-to-roll system.
