  • Patent number: 5454762
Abstract: Described is a hydraulic circuit construction of a vehicular left/right drive force adjusting apparatus suitable for use in adjusting drive force to left and right wheels in an automotive vehicle or the like. The vehicular left/right drive force adjusting apparatus is provided with a drive force transmission control mechanism which performs adjustment of drive force. The drive force transmitting apparatus is equipped with a left-wheel-controlling, hydraulically-driven clutch mechanism for transferring drive force to a left-wheel axle or from the left-wheel axle, a right-wheel-controlling, hydraulically-driven clutch mechanism for transferring drive force to a right-wheel axle or from the right-wheel axle, and a hydraulic circuit for driving these clutch mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 5265019
Abstract: An actuator is used to drive a transmission ratio changing mechanism, which is arranged between a steering wheel and front wheels of a vehicle, for correcting the turning angle of the front wheels. The operation of the actuator is controlled in accordance with detection signals from sensors for detecting first and second turning actions, and an angular turning angular speed of the steering wheel. A controller delivers a corrective turning control signal for increasing the turning angle of the front wheels to the actuator when it is detected that the steering wheel is in the second turning action and that the value of the angular turning speed for the second turning action is at least equal to a reference value.

  • Patent number: 5052506
Abstract: A control valve includes a first valve having a cylinder and a piston arranged in the cylinder. The piston defines in the cylinder a pressure receiving chamber and first and second output pressure chambers, and is moved by pilot pressure applied to the pressure receiving chamber to change volumes of the first and second output pressure chambers. The output pressure chambers are connected to each other through a throttle control valve which generates pressure difference corresponding to a rate of change in volumes of the output pressure chambers, between the output pressure chambers. A main valve is connected to the throttle control valve and includes an inlet port, output ports, and a valve member located between the input and output ports. The valve member is moved in accordance with the pressure difference between the first and second output pressure chambers to control hydraulic pressure output from the output ports.

  • Patent number: 5031714
Abstract: A steering gear ratio changing apparatus includes a first and second steering shafts arranged to be coaxial with each other. The first steering shaft is coupled to a steering wheel of a vehicle and rotatable integral therewith. The second steering shaft is coupled to a steering gear mechanism and arranged to be rotatable. First pawls are formed on one end of the first steering shaft and arranged at equal intervals along the circumferential direction of the shaft. Second pawls are formed on one end of the second steering shaft, which oppose the end of the first steering shaft, and are arranged at equal intervals along the circumferential direction of the shaft. The first and second steering shafts are coupled with each other by a torsion bar and held thereby so that the first and second pawls are engage with one another with a gap between any two adjacent first and second pawls. The width of the gaps is adjusted by actuators so as to cause a relative rotation between the first and second steering shafts.

  • Patent number: 4758018
Abstract: A rear wheel suspension arrangement of trailing arm type for motor vehicles includes a trailing arm for supporting a rear wheel, and a pair of upper and lower lateral arms. The trailing arm is split into a vehicle body side arm and a wheel side arm, which are coupled to have a degree of displacing freedoms within a horizontal plane of the vehicle body. The vehicle body side arm is formed shorter than the lateral arms, whose pivotally securing portion to the vehicle body is disposed at the front side from the coupling portion to the wheel side arm, and disposed in the inside in the lateral direction from the wheel side arm. The lower lateral arm is pivotally secured at least to the wheel side arm via a ball joint.

  • Patent number: 4709935
Abstract: A rear wheel steering system of the trailing arm type suspension for rear wheels having a trailing arm for supporting at the rear portion thereof a rear wheel and extending essentially in the longitudinal direction of a vehicle body by pivotally securing the front end thereof to the body side. Lateral arms are rotatably coupled at the outer ends thereof to the rear portion of the trailing arm and extending essentially in the lateral direction of the vehicle by pivotally securing the inner ends thereof to the vehicle body. The trailing arm allows the front portion thereof to displace essentially in the lateral direction of the vehicle. The rear wheel suspension arrangement allows the trailing arm to displace substantially in the lateral direction of the front end thereof and which comprises an actuator for steering a rear wheel by operating the trailing arm to displace the front portion of the trailing arm essentially in the lateral direction of the vehicle.
