  • Patent number: 6024148
Abstract: An apparatus for sticking a double-sided adhesive tape in a predetermined position on a web, including an adhesive tape roll holding mechanism for tape roll, an adhesive tape delivery mechanism for delivering an adhesive tape laminate from the tape roll, and a pressing member for pressing the adhesive tape laminate against the web. The delivered adhesive tape laminate is held under pressure between the pressing member and the web, whereupon each of tape pieces on a seal of the laminate is stuck on the web.

  • Patent number: 5711318
Abstract: A trimming control device for a cigarette manufacturing machine is provided with a pair of rotatable trimming disks having pockets on their peripheral edges for trimming a shredded tobacco layer on a tobacco band, a detecting device for detecting a filling density of the shredded tobacco in a tobacco rod, and a control board to which output from the detecting device is supplied. The control board makes a filling density distribution in the cigarette rod by sampling the output of the detecting device, extracts a peak zone including a peak from the filling density distribution, and determines a target cutting position of a tobacco rod at the central position of the peak zone.

  • Patent number: 5615693
Abstract: A cigarette rod manufacturing apparatus includes a shaping section for continuously forming a cigarette rod from a paper and cut tobacco, by using an endless fibrous garniture tape traveling in one direction. Two spray nozzles are located outside the shaping section which are used to spray a wetting liquid on the inner and outer surfaces of the garniture tape, individually.

  • Patent number: 5324983
Abstract: A first region of a first conductivity type is formed in the surface of a semiconductor body, and second and third regions of a second conductivity type are formed on and under, respectively, of the first region. An electrode region formed on a first insulating film formed on the semiconductor body is connected electrically to the first region. The electrode region is defined as having an elongated first part an upper surface of which is connected to an electrode, and having a second, different part which has a substantially constant width and which width is substantially equal to the thickness of the first portion of the electrode region. A metal silicide film is formed over the upper surface of the first portion of the electrode region. The first, second and third regions can be base, emitter and collector regions, respectively, of a bipolar transistor formed in an island region of an epitaxially grown layer on a semiconductor substrate.
