  • Patent number: 5757738
Abstract: A library apparatus for storage media such as optical disks includes a rotatable cell drum having several columns of cells for storing the storage media, a load/unload device for inserting and removing cartridges one at a time, at least one drive for reading from or writing to selected media, and an accessor which moves the storage media between the load/unload device and the cell drum, and between the cell drum and the drive. The load/unload device rotates in a collinear arrangement with the cell drum, and can rotate in unison with the cell drum, or independently of the cell drum. The collinear arrangement of the cell drum and the load/unload device reduces the overall size of the library.

  • Patent number: 5757376
Abstract: A data format is provided capable of assigning a desired color lookup table (CLUT) to a texture pattern of each polygon drawn on a two-dimensional display screen. Assuming that TPF represents a pixel depth of the texture pattern, when TPF is 00, 01, and 10, the format (CLUT) is applied of a 4-bit mode, an 8-bit mode, and 16-bit mode respectively, whereby its related command is decreased in word length and thus requires less storage in a source video memory.

  • Patent number: 5664163
Abstract: Drawing instructions and control instructions generated by a CPU are transferred to a drawing device sections, which generates an image by sequentially performing drawing operations in accordance with the drawing instructions and the control instructions. Each of the drawing instructions and the control instructions has a data structure consisting of a header portion and an instruction data portion. The header portion has a command identification code for indicating of what kind the instruction is. A drawing instruction sequence is formed in which the drawing instructions and the control instructions are arranged in the order of drawing and control procedures, and DMA-transferred to the drawing device section by a sorting controller. The drawing device section performs drawing and control operations in the order in the drawing instruction sequence.

  • Patent number: 5659672
Abstract: Apparatus and method which map a texture image onto a polygonal area in which the mapped image can have a dynamic brightness range greater than the dynamic brightness range of the original texture image. The brightness levels of the pixels of the texture image are ascertained and reduced, and the polygonal area onto which the texture image is mapped is shaded by multiplying the reduced brightness levels of the pixels by a shading factor, wherein a shading factor greater than 1 produces a mapped texture image which has a dynamic brightness range that is greater than the dynamic brightness range of the texture image.

  • Patent number: 5218748
Abstract: In a system for exchanging packages on a textile machine such as a rewinder, a creel loader receives empty packages from a creel for transportation to the position of a package supporter, the package supporter is rotated about a vertical axis over 180 degrees to place full packages in a position facing the creel loader, and, after receipt of the full packages, the creel loader travels to a section of the creel in need of package exchange for transfer of the full packages to the creel. Concurrently with this process, full packages from a package stocker is mounted to the package supporter by operation of an assistant device such as a robot for next exchange of packages with the creel loader. Loss in production efficiency otherwise caused by empty travel of the loader is well avoided.

  • Patent number: 5204731
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for measuring the coordinates of a survey point. The apparatus uses a reflecting mirror at the survey point, a tachymeter for transmitting light to the reflecting mirror and for receiving light reflected from the reflecting mirror, first calculating means for calculating the coordinate values of two positions of the reflecting mirror, and second calculating means for calculating a coordinate value of the survey point from the coordinate values of the two reflecting mirror positions. In operation, the tachymeter transmits light to the reflecting mirror at the survey point wherein the reflecting mirror is locatable at two points present on a line passing through the survey point and which are separated from the survey point by predetermined distances.

  • Patent number: 4026036
Abstract: In a box-type continuous hot air drying machine having a drying chamber through which yarn sheets are processed, the supply rate of thermal energy into the drying chamber is automatically controlled in accordance with the running condition of the drying machine, i.e., high speed running, low speed running and stoppage of the drying machine. Preferably cool air under pressure is introduced into the drying chamber when the machine stops running for accelerated cooling of the air and the yarn sheet in the drying chamber.
