  • Patent number: 4732738
Abstract: Combustible gas detecting element for detecting the existence of combustible gas such as methane, ethane, propane iso-butane and hydrogen. The element comprises .alpha.-Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 containing a small amount of sulfate ion (SO.sub.4.sup.--). By using a precipitation process with urea as a precipitant for preparing the above .alpha.-Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3, remarkably high stability and reliability can be released. Addition of quadrivalent metal of Sn, Zr or Ti to the .alpha.-Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 greatly enhances the gas sensitivity to those gases. Furthermore the sensitivity to carbon monoxide was also enhanced by adding cadmium (Cd) and/or gold (Au).

  • Patent number: 4668752
Abstract: Ethylene/C.sub.4 -C.sub.20 alpha-olefin copolymers are disclosed which have new characteristics in regard to composition distribution, degree of branching, randomness and crystallinity by DSC melting points. These copolymers have excellent transparency, impact strength, tear strength, blocking resistance, environmental stress cracking resistance, heat resistance and low-temperature heat sealability in a well-balanced combination when they have a density of at least 0.90. When their density is less than 0.90, these copolymers have particularly excellent transparency, impact strength and low-temperature heat sealability, and by incorporating them in various thermoplastic resins, they serve as an excellent modifier for improved impact strength and low-temperature heat sealability.

  • Patent number: 4512239
Abstract: A vehicle which incorporates an air treatment unit mounted underneath the front instrument panel. A hollow center console box extends along the center of the floor of the vehicle passenger compartment in the longitudinal direction. An opening at the front end of the console box is connected to an air outlet of the air treatment unit, and an opening at the rear end of the console box opens towards a space defined underneath the front seating assembly of the vehicle between it and the floor. Thus treated air is led from the air treatment unit through the hollow console box and is emitted towards the space under the front seating assembly so as to pass therefrom into the rear seating space behind the front seating assembly, and there is no risk that the feet of a person seated on the front seating assembly obstruct this flow of treated air to the space underneath the front seating assembly.

  • Patent number: 4359709
Abstract: A combustible gas detecting element, the sensitive element of which has at least one material selected from the group consisting of gamma-type ferric oxide (.gamma.-Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3) and alpha-type ferric oxide (.alpha.-Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3) and has a microstructure with an average grain size smaller than 0.5 micrometers and a porosity of from 35 to 85%. The sensitivity is increased by adding at least one material selected from a group consisting of tin (Sn) and zinc (Zn) in a ratio from 0.5 to 70 mol %, based on stannic oxide (SnO) and zinc oxide (ZnO) relative to the ferric oxide component. The element is manufactured from fine particles obtained by coprecipitating metallic ions from a solution containing Fe ions and at least one member selected from the group consisting of Sn ions and Zn ions, and the fine particles are pressed and then sintered or are formed into a paste, printed on a substrate and then sintered.

  • Patent number: 4356965
Abstract: An air treatment assembly through which flows an air flow. The air flow is introduced into a ducting system, at an intermediate part of which a heater element is mounted. A first damper upstream of the heater divides the air flow into a first air flow portion passing through the heater and a second air flow portion bypassing the heater. First and second air outlets downstream of the heater element pass air out of the ducting system. A second damper, downstream of the heater element and upstream of the outlets, is movable between a first position in which it hinders the first and second air flows from mixing, so that the air passed out from the first outlet is primarily air from the first air flow, and the air passed out from the second outlet is primarily air from the second air flow; and a second position, in which it does not substantially hinder mixing of the first and second air flows, which meet downstream of the heater and mix well before being passed out from the air outlets.
