Patent number: 7857926Abstract: A method for manufacturing a pneumatic tire with a noise damper on the inside of the tread portion, comprises the steps of: building a raw tire on an annular tire building core; placing the raw tire within a vulcanizing mold together with the core; and heating the raw tire in the mold. The tire building core has a molding face for molding an inner surface of the tread portion. The molding face is provided with a groove extending in the tire circumferential direction. In the step of building the raw tire, an expandable damper material is placed in the groove. During heating the raw tire to be vulcanized, the damper material expands in the groove, whereby the expanded material forms the noise damper integrated into the radially inside of the tread portion.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2007Date of Patent: December 28, 2010Assignee: Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Hideo Nobuchika, Masayuki Sakamoto

Patent number: 7833375Abstract: A method and an apparatus for butt-jointing edges of an elastic material sheet is disclosed. The elastic material sheet is supported such that the two edges to be butt-jointed are oppositely opposed. By moving a pair of counterrotating conical surfaces along the edges, the surfaces of the edges portions are drawn toward the center between the two edges so that the edges are butt-jointed. Between the conical surfaces, a small space is provided so as to form a small rib-like protrusion along the butt-joint. Then, the small rib-like protrusion of the elastic material is pressed down to flatten. Therefore, at the butt-joint interface, the elastic material irregularly interfuses to increase the strength of the butt-joint.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2007Date of Patent: November 16, 2010Assignee: Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Gaku Tanaka, Kazuaki Yarimizu, Masayuki Sakamoto

Patent number: 7078143Abstract: The object of the invention is to prevent interference fringes of images and allow precise measurement of the thickness of a layer by the optical interferometry by limiting the surface roughness of a conductive substrate. The surface roughness of the conductive substrate provided in an electrophotographic photoreceptor is such that the maximum peak-to-valley roughness height (Ry)=0.8 to 1.4 ?m, the centerline average roughness (Ra)=0.10 to 0.15 ?m, the ten-point average roughness (Rz)=0.7 to 1.3 ?m, the average peak-to-peak distance (Sm)=5 to 30 ?m, and the peak count Pc=60 to 100. In such an electrophotographic photoreceptor, light for exposure can be scattered to an appropriate extent, so that interference fringes can be prevented, and an interference pattern is formed during measurement of the thickness of the photosensitive layer by the optical interferometry so that the thickness of the layer can be measured with a high precision.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2003Date of Patent: July 18, 2006Assignee: Sharp Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masaki Hashimoto, Kazushige Morita, Mikio Kakui, Yuji Tanaka, Masayuki Sakamoto
