  • Patent number: 9529641
Abstract: A system for managing a data center including a plurality of electronic components, each of which are configured to generate varying levels of heat loads under varying power level utilizations, is disclosed. The system may comprise a data collection module adapted to collect data describing heat loads generated by the plurality of electronic components; an implementation module adapted to implement a model to predict a thermal topology of the data center, wherein the model is based on thermodynamic state equations; and a control module adapted to adjust the heat load of at least one of the plurality of electronic components based on the model.

  • Patent number: 9385918
Abstract: An example method includes setting up a secure channel between a blade and a provisioning server in a network environment, downloading an image of a virtual machine monitor (VMM) from the provisioning server to the blade through the secure channel, and booting the image to instantiate the VMM on the blade. The blade and the provisioning server are mutually authenticated and authorized with a plurality of parameters. Booting the image may include loading the image on a memory element of the blade and transferring control to the image. In some embodiments, booting the image includes modifying a root file system of the image by adding the daemon such that an agent is included in the root file system. The agent can download another image corresponding to an operating system of a virtual machine.

  • Publication number: 20140366155
Abstract: A system and a method implement a cloud storage gateway configured to provide secure storage services in a cloud environment. A method can include implementing storage provisioning for a virtual machine (VM) in a hybrid cloud environment that includes an enterprise network in communication with a cloud. Enterprise network includes enterprise storage, and cloud includes cloud storage. The storage provisioning is implemented by deploying a cloud storage gateway in the cloud that facilitates secure migration of data associated with the VM between enterprise storage and cloud storage. A nested virtual machine container (NVC) is also deployed in the cloud, where NVC abstracts an interface that is transparent to a cloud infrastructure of the cloud. Cloud storage gateway can then be executed as a virtual machine within NVC. Such storage provisioning is further implemented by deploying the VM in a NVC in the cloud and directly attaching storage to the VM.

  • Patent number: 7881209
Abstract: A method and system for protecting a packet switched network from compromised communications due to a physical intrusion in the network are disclosed. The network includes at least one network element having a detection device operable to detect a possible physical intrusion in a data communication path connected to the network element. The method includes receiving a notification from the detection device that the detection device has identified a physical intrusion in the data communication path, generating an alert, and transmitting the alert over the packet switched network. The alert may include instructions on how to remediate the physical intrusion that can be automatically implemented by a given network-connected device or manually addressed by a network user or network administrator.

  • Patent number: 7457725
Abstract: The present invention systems and methods facilitate automated efficient and effective electronic component and system failure prediction and reliability determination. A present invention electronic component reliability determination system and method includes adjustments for actual operating and environmental conditions and stress impacts on failure analysis. A reference failure rate is adjusted based upon monitored operational and environmental conditions to compensate for impacts associated with the monitored conditions. The conditions are monitored at predetermined intervals and an adjusted determination of an “instantaneous” failure rate is made. The instantaneous failure rate is utilized to ascertain a reliability index value. An electronic component reliability determination system and method can also account for infant mortality and aging effects in the determination of the reliability index value.
