  • Patent number: 6190592
Abstract: A photo film cassette includes a spool core, on which the photo film is wound in a form of roll. A cassette shell contains the spool core in rotatable fashion. First and second flanges are respectively secured to ends of the spool core, for regulating positions of sides of the photo film roll. A first ring-like lip is formed integrally with a periphery of the first flange, is projected toward the roll, is contacted on one edge of an outermost turn of the roll, and prevent the roll from being loosened. The first and second flanges are formed from resin in accordance with injection molding. The resin has temperature of thermal deformation being 80° C. or higher under 18.6 kg/cm2, modulus in elasticity in flexure being 13,000-30,000 kg/cm2, surface hardness being 80 or more in Rockwell R-scale, and high fluidity in molds for the injection molding. The first and second flanges have an outer diameter of 15 mm or more, thickness of 0.

  • Patent number: 5435499
Abstract: A cassette shell of a photographic film cassette has a film passageway through which negative film is fed. A light-shielding member is disposed across the film passageway, and is elastic and rectangular. A side of the light-shielding member parallel to a spool in the cassette is attached to an inside surface of the film passageway. Structure is provided for receiving at least a free side of the light-shielding member opposite the side that is attached. In a preferred embodiment, a second light-shielding member similar to the first light-shielding member is disposed across the film passageway outside the first light-shielding member. In this manner, the inside of the film passage mouth is shielded from light. The film leader is advanced reliably to the outside of the cassette shell by rotating the spool, in the case of a cassette provided with structure for advancing the film leader by rotating the spool.

  • Patent number: 5407146
Abstract: A film cassette assembly has a cassette and a roll of film wound on a spool and contained in the cassette. When the spool is rotated, the roll of film is rotated together with it in order to feed a film leader out of the cassette through a film passage mouth. To rotate the spool and the roll of film together, the film cassette assembly presses an axial end portion of the outermost periphery of the roll of film or presses the film's circumferential peripheral surface. Where the axial end portion of the outermost periphery of the roll of film is to be pressed, at least one of a pair of flanges of the spool is elastically deformed to clamp both axial side edges of the outermost periphery of the roll of film. Where the circumferential surface of the outermost periphery of the roll of film is to be pressed, a projection and an elastic member are provided within the cassette.

  • Patent number: 5332168
Abstract: A photographic film cassette has a spool around which photographic film is wound in a roll. A cassette shell rotatably contains the spool in a roll chamber. A flexible leader separator is disposed between the roll chamber and a film passageway. The separator is in contact with the outside of the roll of the film, and abuts upon a film leading end during rotation of the spool in the unwinding direction, so as to be flexed during usage. A film leader is separated from the roll, and is advanced outward through the passageway. In a preferred embodiment, a pair of guide members are disposed within the passageway, and are in contact with the film in transporting the film out of/into the cassette shell. Though the cassette shell is molded from non-crystalline resin, these guide members are molded from crystalline resin so as to prevent the film from being damaged.

  • Patent number: 5206676
Abstract: In a photographic film cassette, light trapping fabric is provided on each of two inside surfaces of a film passage mouth which define a film passageway. Inner recesses, retracted from the inside surfaces, have the inner edges of the light trapping fabric attached thereto, with an adhesive agent enclosing the inner edges. In a preferred embodiment, tiny grooves are formed in the recesses to provide an increased attaching force, so that a considerable degree of attachment can be maintained. Further, the cassette has two shell halves which are joined together at respective edges. A projection is formed at a first one of those edges. The second edge has a contact projection thereon, for fitting in an inside recess of the first edge. Also, a crooked portion is formed along the juncture of the respective edges. As a result, no light will come through the spacing beside the film. A film leader is advanced through the film passageway by rotating the spool to an outside of the film passage mouth.
