  • Patent number: 4924822
Abstract: An improved gas feed system for a gas fired diesel engine is disclosed, in which boil-off gas evaporated from liquefied gas is fed to the diesel engine. The improvements reside in that between the diesel engine and a liquefied gas tank for storing a gaseous fuel is provided a liquefied gas adding apparatus for adding liquefied gas into the boil-off gas, and in the provision of a passageway through which high-pressure gas passes pressurized by a high-pressure compressing apparatus which compresses the boil-off gas or a mixture of the boil-off gas and the liquefied gas and the provision of a passageway through which low-pressure gas passes pressurized by a low-pressure compressing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4875445
Abstract: A combustion chamber of a sub-chamber type internal combustion engine is improved so as to operate efficiently at an excellent fuel consumption with low smoke density, either upon partial loading or upon heavy loading. The combustion chamber includes a sub-chamber port communicating a main combustion chamber with a subsidiary combustion chamber formed within a cylinder head. A space portion is formed in a cylinder head member on the side of the sub-chamber port located farthest from a cylinder center line on a cross-sectional plane of the sub-chamber port defined as a plane including a center line of the subsidiary combustion chamber and the center line of a cylinder and opening into the sub-chamber port. An expansible/contractible tube is contained within the space portion. A sub-chamber port control rod is connected to the expansible/contractible tube and slidably extends into the opening of the space portion.

  • Patent number: 4864990
Abstract: An injection system for a dual-fuel diesel engine operated by means of a main fuel having a low cetane number and an auxiliary fuel having a high cetane number is disclosed. The injection system includes a pressure regulating check valve provided in parallel to a delivery valve in a main fuel injection pump and allowing fuel flow only in a direction opposite to that in the delivery valve. A control valve feeds the auxiliary fuel pressurized by a fuel feed pump to a fuel injection valve at an appropriate feed rate and at appropriate fuel feed timing regulated by a control device. A check valve is provided in the proximity of a fuel reservoir of the fuel injection valve in a flow passageway of the auxiliary fuel.

  • Patent number: 4619229
Abstract: An auxiliary chamber injection port providing communication between a main combustion chamber and an auxiliary combustion chamber has its axis composed of a combination of a straight line and an arc in a manner to satisfy the following relationships: .theta..sub.1 <.theta..sub.2 ; 20.degree..ltoreq..theta..sub.1 .ltoreq.45.degree.; and 35.degree..ltoreq..theta..sub.2 .ltoreq.67.5.degree., if the outflow angle of the axis of said auxiliary chamber injection port at the open end at the side of said auxiliary combustion chamber is designated at .theta..sub.2 with respect to a plane normal to the center line of said auxiliary combustion chamber and if the outflow angle of the axis of said auxiliary chamber injection port at the open end at the side of said main combustion chamber with respect to a plane normal to the center line of said auxiliary combustion chamber is designated at .theta..sub.1.

  • Patent number: 4526151
Abstract: A fuel injection device in which a fuel injection pump is connected through a fuel injection pipe to a fuel injection nozzle. The inner diameter of the fuel injection pipe is reduced from the side of the fuel injection pump towards the side of the fuel injection nozzle in either a stepwise manner or continuously.

  • Patent number: 3967688
Abstract: The nozzle is provided with a bar which may be rotated to and fixed at various angular positions. The bar has a longitudinally extensive cut away portion, providing a fuel passage. Varying the angular position changes the turning velocity of the vortex-type jet issuing from the passage. The effect of varying the shape of the fuel passage is also described. The purpose of variation is to cause fuel to be properly retained on the saucer shaped top surface of the impact block until the piston strikes the surface, causing the fuel to atomize and be uniformly dispersed to enhance complete combustion of the fuel.
