  • Patent number: 9513204
Abstract: A monitoring device for determining the concentration of a dielectric insulation fluid such as a perfluoroketones in a room housing at least one high-voltage electrical apparatus and being accessible by humans essentially without modifying the room conditions, for example the room being a part of an air-insulated substation, with the monitoring system including one or more sensors for determining an emission and/or absorption of the dielectric insulation fluid molecules at at least one wavelength or wavelength band of the electromagnetic wave spectrum.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 4, 2015
Date of Patent: December 6, 2016
    Assignee: ABB Technology AG
Inventors: Thomas Alfred Paul, Axel Kramer, Mathias Ingold
  • Patent number: 9257213
Abstract: A dielectric insulation medium including sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) and/or tetrafluoro methane (CF4), in a mixture with at least one further component being an at least partially fluorinated fluoroketone.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 15, 2013
Date of Patent: February 9, 2016
    Assignee: ABB TECHNOLOGY AG

  • Patent number: 5475773
Abstract: The sensor comprises at least one quartz body (1) sectioned from a quartz crystal, an optical fiber connected to the quartz body in at least one given length, and means for detecting changes in length of the optical fiber which are caused by piezoelectrically caused changes in shape of the quartz body in an electric field. It is shown how the mostly undesired temperature dependence of the sensor measurement signal can be influenced and, as the case may be, even eliminated in a purely passive manner by a mixture of the two independent piezoelectric coefficients d.sub.11 and d.sub.14 which contribute to the piezoelectrically caused change in dimension of the quartz body.
