  • Patent number: 11713842
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relates to methods of making a hybrid mechanically lined pipe, and apparatus thereof, such as lined pipe used for reeled pipe operations. In one implementation, a method of making a lined pipe for reeled pipe operations includes determining a minimum weld overlay length for a first pipe joint, and providing the first pipe joint. The first pipe joint includes a first end opposite of a second end, a central opening, and an inner surface. The method includes mechanically lining the inner surface of the first pipe joint with a first section of alloy. The method also includes weld overlaying a second section of alloy and a third section of alloy in the central opening and on both sides of the first section of alloy over the minimum weld overlay length to prevent excessive deformation of the mechanically bonded section during reeling operations.

  • Patent number: 9623462
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for reducing ovality in pipe for joining to pipe components by using a plug coupled on an inside surface of the pipe and a sacrificial component coupled to the end of the pipe to establish a coupling interface. The plug, the sacrificial component, or a combination thereof assists in minimizing ovality changes during use of the pipe, particularly at the end of the pipe. When the pipe is to be coupled with a pipe component, the pipe and sacrificial component are separated at a different location than the coupling interface along the pipe in proximity to the plug. The plug is left coupled to the sacrificial component, and generally slidably engaged with the pipe. The plug and the sacrificial component can be removed from engagement with the pipe. The pipe and the pipe component can be coupled together.

  • Patent number: 8997873
Abstract: The disclosure provides an in-situ system and method for transferring a load from a tensioned flexible link between at least two bodies, such as between a buoyancy can and a subsea riser or between a moored offshore platform and a pile. The system and method provides a tether assembly having a hydraulic cylinder and/or a transfer assembly, where the hydraulic cylinder is configured upon actuation to decrease a distance between the two bodies; and the transfer assembly includes a mechanical interlock configured upon actuation to maintain the decreased distance between the two bodies independent of the hydraulic cylinder. The mechanical interlock can include various embodiments that can be selectively activated and deactivated position to allow the hydraulic cylinder to operate at various times in the transfer process. A support assembly can provide additional support to the flexible link independent of or in addition to the transfer assembly.
