  • Patent number: 7984837
Abstract: Stapler (1) which in the course of a reciprocating working stroke (V) staples a workpiece (4), preferably a sheaf of papers, which stapler is powered by an electric motor which, via a transmission arrangement (5) drives the stapler during the working stroke, whereby the motor is activated and initiates the working stroke from a certain starting region as a result of the workpiece moving a trigger (32,33) which forms part of a trigger device (6) to a position at which a circuit-breaker (7), which forms part of the same electrical circuit (8) as the motor is connected to, is closed by the trigger, and whereby a release arrangement (9) connected to, and operatively acted upon, by a rotating means (11) which forms part of the transmission arrangement moves the trigger during the return phase of the working stroke to a non-closing position at which the circuit-breaker returns to an open position, thereby breaking the electric circuit and deactivating the motor, with the result that the working stroke ends in the s

  • Patent number: 7614537
Abstract: A stapler comprises a stapling unit and a base movably connected to each other. The base comprises an anvil, a lower and an upper part with a contact surface which has a staple opening against which a workpiece is placed. The upper and lower parts are movably connected to each other. In operation, movement of the stapling unit and the base toward each other drives a staple into the workpiece, wherein the staple crown comes in contact with the workpiece and the staple legs extend through the staple opening. Upon movement of the upper part and stapling unit toward the lower part, the staple legs are bent by the anvil into contact with the underside of the workpiece. The anvil is attached to the base by an elastic element between the lower and upper part, and is urged toward the staple opening to block the opening when the stapler is in an initial position.

  • Publication number: 20080175834
Abstract: This invention relates to mutant forms of carboxypeptidase U with increased thermal stability relative to wild-type. In addition to the individual thermal stabilizing mutations identified (at positions 166, 204, 219, 230, 251, 315), the inventors have identified a region (S327-H357) that is crucial to the stability of CPU. The invention relates to nucleic acid encoding such mutant forms and the polypeptides encoded thereby. The invention also relates to methods and materials for making CPU mutants with increased thermal stability relative to wild-type and their use, for example to produce crystals of CPU or proCPU for 3-dimensional structure determination, or in therapy.

  • Publication number: 20040106372
Abstract: System and method for optimizing the efficiency of base-to-vehicle communication. The method includes beginning a call initiation step for establishing a wireless communication between a base station and a remotely located vehicle. Conditions are sensed at which a prospective wireless communication would be conducted. The sensed conditions are analyzed to determine whether predetermined criteria are met for initiation of the prospective wireless communication. It is then chosen to initiate a wireless communication when the predetermined criteria for initiation of the prospective wireless communication is satisfied based on the analysis of sensed conditions. It may be required that from the sensed conditions it be determined that the remotely located vehicle is traveling below a predetermined threshold speed. Alternatively, the determining condition may be transmission quality for the prospective wireless communication.
