  • Patent number: 9677845
Abstract: A handguard comprising a plurality of layers of composite material. At least one of the layers is a ceramic matrix composite and at least one of the layers, and preferably the outer later, is a carbon fiber reinforced composite. In addition, the outermost layer is preferably a woven fabric carbon fiber reinforced composite. In one embodiment, one or more ceramic matrix composite layers is sandwiched between layers of carbon fiber reinforced composite. In another embodiment, an innermost layer is a ceramic matrix composite and the outermost layer is a carbon fiber reinforced composite.

  • Patent number: 7232369
Abstract: An under-floor, perimeter-based heating ventilation and air conditioning pressurized air delivery system for use in a space includes a ventilation module, to be located in the floor, a multi-deflection linear bar grille covering the ventilation module, for diffusing the air entering the space, and a pair of apertured plates located below the grille, one plate moves relative to the other to either block more of the resultant apertures, so less air will flow, or to align the apertures, so more air will flow, all at nearly constant velocity and resultant plumage; nuances in aperture size or location allow one segment of the module to engage air flow on a lead-lag basis with respect to the other segments; air flow from the lead apertures induces air flow through a proximate under-floor heating module, to both increase its heat output and temper the ventilation air.

  • Publication number: 20070063816
Abstract: A biometrically activated device wherein data derived from detection of unique internal biometric traits are stored within said biometrically activated device to be compared to stored data relative to said internal biometric markers or traits previously scanned from a user of said biometrically activated device. The biometrically activated device may allow or disallow access to information, or provide use of, data or a device protected by the biometrically activated device.

  • Publication number: 20070016088
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method in a computer system for individualizing a heartbeat signal for use as a biometric marker. The invention is carried out by acquiring a plurality of electronic heartbeat signals from an individual in an electronic signal form. The signals are measured to obtain an actual measurement of a plurality of variable features of the electronic signals relating to the heartbeats. The measurements are mathematically analyzed to provide the probability of divergence of each actual measurement. Using the calculated probability of divergence, subsequently received waveform measurements are analyzed for authentication purposes.
