  • Patent number: 6152941
Abstract: A surgical handpiece includes a housing having an interior cavity and an exterior surface adapted to be gripped by the hand of a user. A rotary drive mechanism is provided inside of the housing and includes a driven shaft with a passageway extending axially therethrough. A suction connection is provided on the housing as is a suction control mechanism operable between first and second operative positions for preventing suction from being applied to the passageway in the driven shaft when in a first operative position and for connecting suction to the passageway when in a second operative position.

  • Patent number: 5961532
Abstract: A surgical tool (10) for chucking in a powered surgical handpiece, comprising an outer tubular member (11) with an opening (41) at the distal portion thereof. An inner tubular member (30) is movable in the outer tubular member and comprises a bendable inner tube (36) of flexible polymer material and a tissue working tip (40) extending forward from the distal end of the inner tube. The inner tube has a radially enlarged distal opening recess (62). The tip includes a reduced outside diameter, proximally extending, annular flange fixed within the inner tube distal recess (61). The annular flange of the tip is formed with hills and valleys (63, 64). The inner wall of the inner tube that defines the recess is formed with hills (65) that seat in the valleys of the annular flange so as to lock the tip to the inner tube. The annular flange is further shaped so as to extend into the recess a distance less than the overall length of the recess.

  • Patent number: 4201760
Abstract: A particulate mixture of an alkali chloride solvent salt, a lithium salt reactant selected from the group consisting of lithium hydroxide, lithium nitrate, lithium carbonate and mixtures thereof, and an aluminum salt reactant selected from the group consisting of aluminum hydroxide, alpha-alumina, gamma-alumina and mixtures thereof is heated to melt the chloride salt solvent in which the lithium and aluminum salt reactants dissolve and react precipitating lithium meta-aluminate.

  • Patent number: 4160708
Abstract: A relatively thin coat of calcium metaborate is electrolytically-applied from a solution of calcium formate with boric acid directly to the surface of a boron-containing electrical steel and a substantially thicker overcoat of Mg(OH).sub.2 is electrolytically-deposited on the calcium metaborate coating to provide a duplex coating about 0.2 mil thick.

  • Patent number: 4160705
Abstract: A boron-containing magnesium hydroxide coating is electrolytically applied to a boron-containing electrical steel through the use of an electrolyte at 90.degree. C. which is an aqueous solution of magnesium formate and magnesium metaborate containing magnesia as a solid second phase and having a pH in the range from 8.0 to 9.0.

  • Patent number: 4160706
Abstract: A boron-containing electrical steel sheet is provided with an electrolytically-deposited boron-containing Mg(OH).sub.2 primary coating about 0.05 mil thick and a secondary coating of electrolytically-deposited Mg(OH).sub.2 about 0.15 mil thick. Magnesium formate is employed as the water-soluble magnesium salt in preparing the electrolytes.
