Patent number: 11969788Abstract: A method of manufacturing an antenna assembly includes additively manufacturing an element that is a monolithic structure and that includes (i) a ground plane including one or more aperture slots, (ii) a patch antenna above the ground plane, and (iii) a sacrificial support feature to support the patch antenna above the ground plane. The method further includes applying a dielectric material between the ground plane and the patch antenna. In an example, applying the dielectric material between the ground plane and the patch antenna includes providing a dielectric foam between the ground plane and the patch antenna, where the dielectric foam at least in part supports the patch antenna above the ground plane. The method further includes removing at least a section of the sacrificial support feature, such that any remnant of the support feature does not physically couple the ground plane to the patch antenna.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2023Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventors: Jean L. Kubwimana, Alexander D. Johnson, Jacob Tamasy, James F. Fung, Matthew J. Ney

Patent number: 11944429Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed to objectively identify sub-second behavioral modules in the three-dimensional (3D) video data that represents the motion of a subject. Defining behavioral modules based upon structure in the 3D video data itself— rather than using a priori definitions for what should constitute a measurable unit of action— identifies a previously-unexplored sub-second regularity that defines a timescale upon which behavior is organized, yields important information about the components and structure of behavior, offers insight into the nature of behavioral change in the subject, and enables objective discovery of subtle alterations in patterned action. The systems and methods of the invention can be applied to drug or gene therapy classification, drug or gene therapy screening, disease study including early detection of the onset of a disease, toxicology research, side-effect study, learning and memory process study, anxiety study, and analysis in consumer behavior.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2023Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: President and Fellows of Harvard CollegeInventors: Sandeep Robert Datta, Alexander B. Wiltschko, Matthew J. Johnson

Patent number: 11921299Abstract: A display system includes a display panel configured to emit a polarized image light having a first polarization state and at least one emission spectrum having a full width at half maxima (FWHM). The display system includes a reflective polarizer configured to receive and reflect the polarized image light as a first reflected polarized image light. For a first light incident at a first predetermined angle, the reflective polarizer has an average reflectance of greater than about 60% across the at least one emission spectrum for the first polarization state, a transmittance of at least about 50% for at least wavelength outside the FWHM of the at least one emission spectrum for the first polarization state, and an average total transmittance of greater than about 70% across a visible wavelength range including the FWHM of the at least one emission spectrum for an orthogonal second polarization state.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2021Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: 3M INNOVATIVE PROPERTIES COMPANYInventors: Adam D. Patent number: 10839973Abstract: An apparatus (112) provides for tuning of an effective focal spot size of a radiation source. The apparatus may comprise a plurality of inter-channel structures (214) defining a plurality of channels (216) passing through the apparatus from a first surface (218) to a second surface (220). The inter-channel structures comprise a first substance and the channels contains a second substance. The first substance attenuates radiation more than the second substance. The inter-channel structures may define the channels such that lines passing through the channels converge at a location on or near the surface of a focal spot (212).Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2017Date of Patent: November 17, 2020Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventors: Brett A.
