  • Patent number: 11810471
Abstract: A computer system analyses audio data representing a user speaking words from a body of text and identifies occasions where the user mispronounces an expected phoneme. Mispronunciation of the expected phoneme is identified by comparison with a phonetic sequence corresponding to the text, based on a predetermined or user-selected language model. The system requires the user to read continuously for a period of time, so that the user cannot hide any tendency they have to pronounce the words of the text either incorrectly or differently to the expected phonemes from the language model. The system operates on the basis of comparing the similarity of the spoken sounds of the user with the expected phonemes for the body of text, and it is not necessary to convert the user's speech to text. As the computer system need only work with the similarity scores and the sequence of expected phonemes, it can be implemented in a computationally efficient manner.

  • Patent number: 8972840
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses in which two or more types of attributes from an information stream are identified. Each of the identified attributes from the information stream is encoded. A time ordered indication is assigned with each of the identified attributes. Each of the identified attributes shares a common time reference measurement. A time ordered index of the identified attributes is generated.

  • Patent number: 8315376
Abstract: A call notification system method, computer program and advertising method are disclosed. A call notification is generated at a recipient system (2) in response to receipt of initiation data on a call from an originating system (3). At least aspects of the call notification are controllable by the originating system (3).

  • Publication number: 20090154671
Abstract: A communication system is disclosed which is arranged to cause establishment of a connection between a first system that is a party to a call, or is a party to a call being initiated, and a second system. The first and second systems are arranged to communicate via said connection. The communication comprises a data dialogue that is separate to initiation communications for the call. At least one of the first system and the second system is arranged to store data, or to cause a change to an application or data or process in dependence on the data dialogue. A corresponding method is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7292979
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses in which attributes including one or more types of accents and one or more types of human languages from an audio information stream are identified. Each identified attribute from the audio information stream is encoded into a time ordered index. Each of the identified attributes shares a common time reference. Different human language models are compared at approximately the same time to generate an integrated time ordered index.
