  • Publication number: 20060264320
Abstract: This invention relates to a catalyst support comprising the result of the combination of: (a) a support comprising hydroxyl groups; (b) a capping agent comprising a boron containing Lewis acid; and (c) an ionic activator, wherein at least some of the capping agent does not form a support bound activator.
    Type: Application
    Filed: March 30, 2006
    Publication date: November 23, 2006
Inventors: George Rodriguez, Anthony Speca, Matthew Kuchta, David McConville, Terry Burkhardt
  • Publication number: 20060247483
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of producing oligomers of olefins, comprising reacting olefins with a catalyst under oligomerization conditions. The catalyst can be the product of the combination of a chromium compound and a pyridyl amine or a heteroaryl-amine compound. In particular embodiments, the catalyst compound can be used to trimerize or tetramerize ethylene to 1-hexene, 1-octene, or mixtures of 1-hexene and 1-octene.
    Type: Application
    Filed: March 9, 2006
    Publication date: November 2, 2006

  • Publication number: 20060094842
Abstract: This invention relates to a catalyst compound represented by the formula: wherein: M is a Group 3 to 12 transition metal; each Ra is, independently, a hydrogen, a hydrocarbyl group, a substituted hydrocarbyl group or halogen; each of R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R7, R8, R9, R10, and R11 is, independently a hydrogen, a hydrocarbyl group, a substituted hydrocarbyl group or halogen; R6 is hydrogen, a hydrocarbyl group, or a substituted hydrocarbyl group; x is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4; and each Z is, independently, a group 15 atom. This invention also relates to catalyst systems comprising the above catalyst compound and a activator and the use of such catalyst systems to polymerize monomers, including olefin monomers.

  • Publication number: 20050049436
Abstract: Non-coordinating anions or anion precursors are disclosed. These non-coordinating anions serve as the activator for olefin polymerization catalyst systems. As such, they abstract an alkyl leaving group from a metallocene catalyst precursor leaving an activated catalyst charge balanced by a non-coordinating anion. These anions are formed by 3 or 4 partially fluorinated naphthyl ligands coordinated around boron (or other Group-13 element) creating corresponding tris-borane or tetrakis-borate complexes.

  • Publication number: 20050002847
Abstract: A process for sequestering carbon dioxide, which includes reacting a silicate based material with an acid to form a suspension, and combining the suspension with carbon dioxide to create active carbonation of the silicate-based material, and thereafter producing a metal salt, silica and regenerating the acid in the liquid phase of the suspension.
