    Abstract: A tailgate apparatus on vehicle bodies mounted so that the tailgate opens by pivoting about a horizontal axis or rotates about either one or both of the outer vertical axes as desired for unloading of the content of the vehicle body or container. The tailgate may be split and hinged in barn door fashion or it may be one-piece and hinged on a single side, while simultaneously hinged in dump fashion at the top. The hardware design of the apparatus allows dual rotatable opening of the tailgate or overhead dump opening of the tailgate.
