  • Patent number: 8817896
Abstract: A radio station comprises means for allocating resources for communication with at least one other station, and including means for mapping data to be transmitted from at least the radio station to the at least one other station, and means for applying a cyclic shift to the data mapping, wherein this cyclic shift is adjusted depending on the number of data blocks to be mapped. A possible implementation concerns the mapping of the DVRB (Distributed Virtual Resource Block) in OFDM.

  • Publication number: 20140219215
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of exchanging data between a first station and a second station, said data being exchanged in packets. Said method comprises the steps of: receiving a packet from the second station; decoding said packet; determining whether to transmit to the second station a resource allocation message on a signalling channel; if a said resource allocation message is transmitted, further transmitting to the second station a first indicator signal on an indicator channel; if both the decoding has not been successful and the said resource allocation message is not transmitted, transmitting to the second station a second indicator signal on the indicator channel.

  • Publication number: 20140140303
Abstract: In UMTS WCDMA a new RACH-based uplink is being discussed. The resources defined for this new “E-RACH” need to be signalled to the UE. This should avoid disturbing the signalling to existing terminals, i.e. that are not aware of E-RACH. This could be done for E-RACH by repeating the kind of signalling defined for R99 RACH and transmitted on the BCH (Broadcast Control Channel). However, this would imply a significant extra load on the BCH, which is undesirable. The invention is based on the recognition that E-DCH resources can be defined efficiently at least partly with reference to the R99 RACH resources. This can be done in such a way that no additional signalling is required on the BCH.

  • Patent number: 8730968
Abstract: A method of operating a communication system in which transmissions in a first direction, say from a base station, comprise frames formed by data packets and transmissions in a second direction, say from a user equipment (U E), comprise substantially continuous transmissions having acknowledgement fields (ARQ-A, ARQ-B) for data packets and transmission gaps (GP) to allow the UE to make other measurements. The acknowledgement fields are mapped to the data packets to enable the base station to determine which data packets are being acknowledged. In order to avoid ambiguity in mapping acknowledgement fields to data packets when a transmission gap occurs, a single data packet is transmitted in either the frame whose acknowledgement field would occur in the transmission gap or the frame whose acknowledgement field would occur immediately following the transmission gap.

  • Patent number: 8730858
Abstract: When a radio station terminates a first service on a first radio frequency channel and selects a second radio frequency channel for engaging in a second service, a time delay is inserted after the termination of the first service and before selecting the second radio frequency channel or before engaging in the second service. The time delay is dependent on the state of the radio station and/or a characteristic of the second service.

  • Publication number: 20140106762
Abstract: In a radio communication system (100, 200) using a channel divided into a plurality of time slots, a control signal is transmitted in each time slot and a data signal is transmitted intermittently using a subset of the time slots. The control signal includes a portion which is a predetermined signal, such as a pilot signal, and one or more bits constituting a power control command. The format of the control signal is adapted according to whether or not data is transmitted in the same time slot. When data is not being transmitted, the proportion of the control signal which constitutes a power control command is increased and the energy of the control signal is reduced, at least by reducing the energy of the predetermined signal portion.
