  • Patent number: 11480444
Abstract: A method of capturing usage data of a usage area, which includes an automatic meter reading (AMR) device that broadcasts the usage data over a sequence of radio-frequency (RF) channels via a frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) signal. The method includes the steps of providing an RF receiver for the usage area, determining the sequence of RF channels, and receiving the usage data by tuning the RF receiver to an RF channel based on the sequence of RF channels. The sequence of RF channels includes an array of RF channels assigned to and ordered based on a channel position.

  • Patent number: 11262093
Abstract: A method of adjusting an energy usage of a usage area including a step of providing a gateway device for the usage area wherein the usage area comprises at least one electrically powered device and a step of determining an energy usage of the at least one electrically powered device. The method also includes a step of creating a user energy profile and a step of adjusting the energy usage of the at least one electrically powered device in the usage area based on the energy usage of the at least one electrically powered device and based on the user energy profile.

Date of Patent: March 1, 2022
    Assignee: Insight Energy Ventures, LLC
Inventors: Rob Weyant, Kevin M. Foreman, Matthew P. Tilchen, Dave Childers
  • Publication number: 20210126971
Abstract: A method of automatically mating a gateway device with an energy measurement device in a usage area via a user computing device including steps of providing a gateway device for an energy measurement device in the usage area, connecting the gateway device to a local network for the usage area, installing a user application on the user computing device, searching for the gateway device with the user application for a predetermined time period, detecting the gateway device within the predetermined time period by establishing communication between the gateway device and the user computing device, and passing information between the gateway device and the user application on the user computing device to allow the gateway device to connect to the energy meter.

  • Patent number: 10962384
Abstract: A method of disaggregating an energy usage signal of a usage area includes steps of providing a gateway device for an aggregate energy usage signal of a usage area, installing a user application on a user computing device to display information from the gateway device, receiving a plurality of inputs, and determining the energy usage of the individual electrically powered devices in the usage area based on the aggregate energy usage signal and based on the plurality of inputs.
