  • Patent number: 5658289
Abstract: A graft protection device suitable for protecting a bone-tendon-bone graft used during anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. The graft protection device comprises a distal blocking member, a proximal releasable holding sleeve and an elongated connecting portion connecting the blocking member with the holding sleeve. A radially extending handle is attached to the holding sleeve in order to enable a user to longitudinally and rotationally position the graft protection device along the shaft of an elongated driver when the device is inserted through an opening into a joint.

  • Patent number: 5443509
Abstract: A bone fixation screw employs plural interleaved and axially symmetrical spiral threads. The threads are machined at the screw tip to form symmetrically disposed leading cutting edges. An interference-screw embodiment has a central axial cannula and a female hexagonal drive socket. The plural threads assist in unbiased starting and fast advance of the screw.

  • Patent number: 5391170
Abstract: A surgical screw driver for inserting bone screws in bone tunnels in ligament reconstruction has, in a preferred embodiment, a rotatable operating shaft disposed at an angle to a drive shaft. A mechanism is on the drive shaft for retaining a bone screw. Methods of arthroscopic cruciate ligament reconstruction include the steps of introducing a surgical screw driver through a portal that is offset from the longitudinal axis of a bone tunnel and driving a bone screw mounted on the driver in the bone tunnel to fixate a bone block in the bone tunnel.
