  • Patent number: 10841489
Abstract: A method for inspecting a surface (12) of a piece of nuclear power plant equipment includes scanning the surface (12) with an acquisition field (20) of a matrix array camera (14). The acquisition field (20) moves relative to the surface (12) at a movement speed. The method also includes acquiring, by means of the matrix array camera (14), an image (22) of the acquisition field (20), with a certain acquisition frequency. Each image (22) includes a first number of lines of pixels. The method also includes extracting, from each image (22), a first set of lines, the first set comprising a second number of continuous lines of pixels, the second number being between 2 and the first number; and constituting a final image (32) of the surface (12) by juxtaposing the lines extracted from each image (22). The movement speed, the acquisition frequency, the first number of lines and the second number of lines are chosen such that the final image (32) covers the entire surface (12) without interruption.

  • Patent number: 10648920
Abstract: A method for detecting a defect on a surface (12) by multidirectional lighting includes acquiring a plurality of images of the surface (12) using an optical device (14) having an optical axis, each image being acquired with a lighting of the surface along a lighting direction (E, E?) given for each point of the surface (12) and an optical direction (O), the images being acquired with different lighting directions (E, E?) or different combinations and/or with different optical directions (O); for each point, calculating a plurality of parameters, the parameters including coefficients of an equation characterizing the response of said point of the surface as a function of the lighting direction (E, E?) and an observation direction (B, B?); and deducing from the calculated parameters whether the surface (12) has a defect at said point.

  • Patent number: 9903828
Abstract: A photothermal examination method and corresponding examination unit are provided. In the method first and second zones of the surface to be characterized are scanned simultaneously, and first and second photosensitive surfaces separate from one another acquire images of the infrared radiation emitted by these two zones.

  • Patent number: 9541529
Abstract: An ultrasonic probe for examining an object with ultrasound and a corresponding examination method are provided. The probe includes a plurality of emitter elements able to emit ultrasonic waves for emitting a focused ultrasonic beam into the object through an active area of a surface of the object, and a profilometer for determining the profile of the surface of the object and for controlling the emission of the ultrasonic beam depending on the determined profile. The profilometer includes an image-taking apparatus for taking at least one digital image of the active area and an image processing module able to determine the profile of the active area by analyzing the optical blurring of the or at least one image.

  • Patent number: 9146205
Abstract: The present invention is related to a system and method of inspecting a weld. The weld to be inspected is subjected to a transient sonic excitation while the weld area is monitored using a remote infrared camera. The sonic excitation induces mechanical vibration, which causes heat generation at any cracks or other anomalies in the weld. The infrared camera detects any temperature differentials in the weld, indicating the presence of an anomaly. The system and method is particularly useful for welds in environments that are unsafe for extended human presence or that are crowded or otherwise inaccessible, such as with piping or other structural components.
