Publication number: 20230224773Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards intelligent dual-connectivity for non-standalone network nodes. Network nodes can report state information to a central controller, such as a radio access network intelligent controller. The controller can determine, based on the state information reported by multiple network nodes, network nodes to cooperate in non-standalone mode. The controller can provide the network nodes with instructions to implement the controller's non-standalone relationship determinations.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 8, 2023Publication date: July 13, 2023Inventors: Xuan Tuyen Tran, Matti Hiltunen, Slawomir Stawiarski, Yu Zhou, Gueyoung Jung, Rittwik Jana, Kaustubh Joshi

Publication number: 20230209429Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards a cellular network area optimizer. The area optimizer observes cellular network conditions at multiple radio access network (RAN) nodes within a target area. Based on observed conditions, the area optimizer applies a set of parameter values at the multiple RAN nodes. The set of parameter values enhances the overall throughput, while maintaining or improving connection retainability and accessibility, of the multiple RAN nodes under the observed conditions. The area optimizer learns different sets of parameter values to apply in response to different observed conditions by making parameter value adjustments and observing the effect of the adjustments on overall throughput of the RAN nodes in the target area.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 3, 2023Publication date: June 29, 2023Inventors: Gueyoung Jung, Edward Daniels, Matti Hiltunen, Rittwik Jana, Kaustubh Joshi

Publication number: 20230080679Abstract: Aggressive behavior by aggressive devices against a radio access network (RAN) can be detected and mitigated, while allowing benign devices to attach to a network. A security management component (SMC) can analyze temporary device identifier data (TDID) associated with RAN and an attach request and associated information, comprising a temporary device identifier (TDI), received from a device. Based on the analysis, SMC can reject the attach request if TDI is not in TDID and store TDI in TDID, or can accept the attach request if TDI is in TDID and a threshold amount of time since a previous attach request associated with TDI is determined to be satisfied. SMC can continue to monitor attach requests, and if the device detaches from the network and sends another attach request associated with TDI to quickly reattach to network, SMC can reject the attach request and identify the device as aggressive.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2021Publication date: March 16, 2023Inventors: Yaron Koral, Matti Hiltunen

Patent number: 11012503Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for an application deployment engine. A processor that executes an application deployment engine can receive an application request. The processor can obtain network topology data that indicates availability of resources of a data center, an application template associated with the application, and a running time during which an application placement plan is to be identified out of a large number of placement scenarios within the running time. The application template can describe an application flow path associated with the application. The processor can identify the application placement plan, where the application placement plan can include an optimal placement of the application at the data center, before a given running time expires by pruning the large search space. The processor can generate a command to effect deployment of the application in accordance with the application placement plan.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2020Date of Patent: May 18, 2021Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Gueyoung Jung, Kaustubh Joshi, Matti A. Patent number: 10979361Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for creating cross-service chains of virtual network functions in a wide area network. A controller can receive a chain request from a requestor. The chain request can specify functionality that is to be included in a service chain. The functionality can include a first function and a second function. The controller can compute a route associated with the service chain. The route can specify a first site that hosts a first service that provides the first function and a second site that hosts a second service that provides the second function. A first virtual network function can be located at the first site and a second virtual network function can be located at the second site. The controller can configure edge devices and forwarding devices to various entities at the two sites to enable the cross-service virtual network function chain.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2019Date of Patent: April 13, 2021Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Abhigyan, Kaustubh Joshi, Richard Schlichting, Matti Hiltunen, Yoji Ozawa

Patent number: 10827006Abstract: The concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to a policy-driven homing service system that can receive, from a master service orchestrator, a demand specifying a service component to be used to provide, at least in part, a service. The system can receive, from a policy system, a homing constraint. The system can determine, for the demand, an initial set of all potential candidates. The system can apply the homing constraint to each potential candidate in the initial set of all potential candidates. The system can determine a resultant set of potential solutions that satisfy the homing constraint. The system can determine a best solution from the resultant set of potential solutions. The system can send the best solution to the master service orchestrator, which instantiates the demand based upon the best solution.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2018Date of Patent: November 3, 2020Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Matti Hiltunen, Gueyoung Jung, Shankaranarayanan Puzhavakath Narayanan, Joseph D'Andrea, III, Kaustubh Joshi

Patent number: 10559229Abstract: Content is securely shared between communication devices in an ad-hoc manner by employing common sensing context to establish pairing between the communication devices. In one aspect, the communication devices are within a specified distance from each other and sense common signals from their environment over a specified time period. The common signals are analyzed to determine an initialization or session key, which is utilized to secure content transfer between the communication devices. Additionally or alternatively, the key is utilized to provide access to virtual (e.g., digital content) and/or physical (e.g., buildings) resources.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2019Date of Patent: February 11, 2020Assignee: AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P.Inventors: Matti A.
