Publication number: 20100296987Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the recovery of gold from a gold-containing chloride solution using activated carbon. The gold-containing solution and the carbon are contacted with each other, after which the gold that has formed as metallic particles on the surface of the carbon is separated from the carbon using physical methods as gold concentrate that contains metallic gold.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2006Publication date: November 25, 2010Applicant: Outotec OyiInventors: Olli Hyvärinen, Jussi Liipo, Reijo Tontti, Matti Hämäläinen, Tuula Hämäläinen

Patent number: 7785395Abstract: The invention relates to a method for recovering gold from a sulphidic concentrate, particularly one containing arsenopyrite and/or pyrite, hydro-metallurgically. The concentrate is first subjected to leaching with a concentrated solution of alkali chloride and copper (II) chloride, by means of which the copper minerals and some of the gold in the concentrate are made to dissolve. Elemental sulphur and precipitated iron and arsenic compounds are separated from the leaching residue using physical separation methods, whereby the first intermediate is obtained, which contains gold-bearing sulphide minerals and gangue minerals as well as the gold that remains undissolved. The free gold that remains undissolved is separated by means of gravity separation methods. After gravity separation, additional comminution is carried out, after which the sulphide minerals are decomposed and the gold-containing solution or residue is routed to the concentrate leaching circuit.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2006Date of Patent: August 31, 2010Assignee: OUTOTEC OYJInventors: Jaakko Leppinen, Olli Hyvärinen, Seppo Heimala, Veikko Palosaari, Matti Hämäläinen, Tuula Hämäläinen, legal representative

Patent number: 7776135Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the recovery of gold in connection with the hydrometallurgical production of copper from a residue or intermediate product containing sulphur and iron generated in the leaching of copper raw material. The recovery of both copper and gold takes place in a chloride milieu. The gold contained in the residue or intermediate product is leached using bivalent copper and oxygen in copper (II) chloride-sodium chloride solution in the conditions, where the oxidation-reduction potential is a maximum of 650 mV and the pH at least 1. The iron and sulphur contained in the residue remain for the most part undissolved.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2003Date of Patent: August 17, 2010Assignee: Outotec OyjInventors: Matti Hämäläinen, Olli Hyvärinen

Patent number: 7778425Abstract: This invention describes a method for generating noise references for adaptive interference cancellation filters for applications in generalized sidelobe canceling systems. More specifically the present invention relates to a multi-microphone beamforming system similar to a generalized sidelobe canceller (GSC) structure, but the difference with the GSC is that the present invention creates noise references to the adaptive interference canceller (AIC) filters using steerable beams that block out the desired signal when the beam is steered away from the desired signal source location.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 2003Date of Patent: August 17, 2010Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Matti Kajala, Matti Hämäläinen, Ville Myllylä

Patent number: 7294168Abstract: The invention relates to the removal of bivalent copper from copper chloride solution in connection with the hydrometallurgical production of copper. In the copper production process, a copper-bearing raw material is leached with a chloride-bearing solution. The copper chloride solution formed in the leaching, which contains both mono- and bivalent copper, undergoes bivalent copper removal at least in part by precipitation, and the copper(I) chloride solution is conduced to further treatment. Precipitation of the bivalent copper occurs as alkaline copper chloride precipitation. The alkaline copper (II) chloride formed is leached as copper(II) chloride either separately or in connection with raw material leaching, and is used in copper raw material leaching.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2002Date of Patent: November 13, 2007Assignee: Outotec OyjInventor: Matti Hämäläinen

Patent number: 6965770Abstract: A method and system for establishing a dynamic content delivery system (DCDS) is disclosed. In one embodiment, a Bluetooth enabled mobile communications unit is used to communicate with a server in order to make a request for the delivery of specific content, such as a song, video, or the like, to a separate output device, such as a loudspeaker, a display screen, or the like. In another embodiment the content is delivered back to the requesting mobile communications device. In some embodiments, hybrid networks may be used for requesting and delivering content. A narrowband, bi-directional, unicast network may be used for requesting content and acknowledging the requests, while a broadband, unidirectional, multicast network may be used to deliver the requested content to the requesting client device. The order in which the content is delivered may be modified by user requests according to a predetermined algorithm.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2001Date of Patent: November 15, 2005Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Rod Walsh, Juha Häkkinen, Matti Hämäläinen, Mauri Väänänen, Ari Tähti, Kristiina Nevakivi

Patent number: 6929677Abstract: This invention relates to a method where sulfidic iron-bearing copper concentrate is leached on the countercurrent principle, in a chloride environment. The leaching takes place with the aid of bivalent copper and an oxygen-bearing gas as a multi-stage continuous process, under normal pressure, at a temperature, which as highest corresponds to the boiling point of the solution. Part of the insoluble solid matter is returned, counter to the main flow of solid matter, to one of the previous leaching stages or reactors where, as a result of the extended leaching time, the leach waste iron is recovered mostly as hematite.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2001Date of Patent: August 16, 2005Assignee: Outokumpu Technology OyInventor: Matti Hämäläinen
