  • Patent number: 5389310
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for dispersing gas into liquid or slurry, which uses a rotatable rotor at least partly submerged in the liquid, and blades connected thereto. According to the invention, the gas to be dispersed is conducted, via a gas conduit (1, 22, 32) to the inside (7, 27, 37) of the rotor (6) and further to the surrounding liquid or slurry through at least one discharge aperture (12, 28, 38) formed in the rotor blade (8, 26, 36) and being adjustable in width.

  • Patent number: 5358671
Abstract: The invention relates to an aerator device where the stator is installed coaxially with the rotor and comprises several flow chutes extending outwards from the stator frame. According to the invention, the flow channel (8) comprises a first part (9) that is closed at the top, and an at least one-part flow chute (10, 12, 16, 20, 22, 24) that is open at the top.

  • Patent number: 5244097
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for feeding air into a flotation cell provided with a rotor and a stator. According to the present invention, air is fed into the intermediate space formed in between the rotor and stator covers, to above the rotor, wherefrom the air is distributed symmetrically.

  • Patent number: 4894129
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for positioning sheet-like objects, anodes and/or cathodes, in an electrolysis tank, when the positioning is carried out by utilizing a gripping device (2) designed for gripping sheet-like objects and connected to the loading member (1). According to the invention, the gripping device (2) is movable with respect to the loading member (1) and the electrolysis tank (5) so that the position of the gripping device (2) is adjusted essentially accurately with respect to the electrolysis tank (5) and the loading member (1), on the basis of the measurements carried out by the aid of the identification marks (7) placed in the electrolysis tank (5).

  • Patent number: 4806213
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for stripping a thin, sheet-like layer of electrolytically accumulated metal precipitate (6) from its supporting structures (1) by means of a peeling blade (4) driven towards the upper edge of the precipitate layer (6). For the stripping operation, the supporting structure (1) is first attached to the stripping station by aid of gripping members (2, 3), the frame whereof advantageously provides a housing in common with the peeling blades (4). Moreover, the measuring and control members (7, 8) which are advantageously located in the common housing, are used in determining the surface profile of the supporting structure (1), and the obtained profile is made use of while choosing the orientation of the peeling blade (4).

  • Patent number: 4451291
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for converting matte in two parallelly connected converters (I, II) with essentially equal blowing rates, corresponding the full capacity of the sulphuric acid plant receiving the process gases. Instead of an arrangement where the following converting periods of the two converters (I, II) are carried out in turns, the converting periods of the converters are now partially overlapping in such a fashion that their blowing periods are staggered, so that blowing is always performed in the first converter while the second converter is being charged or poured. By using this method it is possible to achieve very short waiting periods between the converting periods, additional heating is unnecessary and the pair of converters renders a continuous and even gas flow, which has a higher sulphur dioxide content than normally.

  • Patent number: 4267877
Abstract: An apparatus for the continuous casting of an anode plate into low-rimmed, open molds at the periphery of a rotating wheel, which apparatus comprises a casting ladle fitted adjacent to the molds for pouring molten metal into the molds, a feeding member for filling the casting ladle with molten metal between castings, measuring devices for determining the total weight of the casting ladle before and during casting, and control members for regulating the casting cycle on the basis of the measured total weight of the casting ladle, the casting ladle being fitted to swivel around a substantially vertical shaft between two positions so that the spout of the casting ladle moves with the mold below during the casting cycle and then back to a position above the next mold before the next casting cycle.
