  • Patent number: 10504498
Abstract: Real-time jamming is automatically assisted for musicians. A real-time audio signal is received of played music that is played by at least one person. Beat is tracked of the played music from the real-time audio signal and accordingly a time of a next beat is predicted. At least one of chords; notes; and drum sounds is recognized from the real-time audio signal and repetitions in the played music are accordingly detected. A next development is predicted in the played music, based on the detected repetitions, including at least one of chords; notes; and drum sounds that will be played next, and respective timing based on the predicted time of the next beat. A real-time output is produced based on the predicted next development in the played music.

  • Patent number: 8212729
Abstract: A radio antenna assembly for use in a communication device has an antenna element disposed adjacent to a ground plane to form a physical relationship with the ground plane. A mechanical device is used to change the physical relationship for changing the operating impedance of the antenna element or shifting the frequency band of the antenna assembly. The physical relationship can be changed by mechanically changing the shape of the antenna element. When the antenna element comprises a first radiating element and a second radiating element disposed at a lateral distance from the first radiating element, the physical relationship can be changed by changing the distance. When a physical object is disposed between the antenna element and the ground plane, the physical relationship can be changed by moving or twisting the physical object. The object can be electrically conducting, dielectric or magnetic.

  • Publication number: 20080150458
Abstract: The invention relates to an adjustable brake device that can be used in conjunction with a hinge mechanism of a folding electronic device, e.g. a clamshell mobile phone. The adjustable brake device comprises a brake actuator that is able to generate a braking force responsive to a magnetic flux directed to the brake actuator and a magnetic circuit that has a magnetizing device arranged to generate the magnetic flux and a magnetic path arranged to conduct the magnetic flux from the magnetizing device to the brake actuator. At least two elements of the magnetic circuit are movable with respect to each other. A mutual position of the at least two elements can be used for determining strength of the magnetic flux directed to the brake actuator. The braking force can be adjusted in a relatively simple way by adjusting the mutual position of the movable parts of the magnetic circuit.

  • Patent number: 7342573
Abstract: This invention describes a method for a haptic (tactile) feedback to a user of an electronic device having a touch display (screen) by utilizing an electrostrictive polymer as a combined haptic-seal actuator attached to the touch screen. In addition, the combined seal-actuator also makes a shock absorber. The electrostrictive polymer is a suitable material for haptic-seal-shock absorbing actuator because of its robustness and large stroke.

  • Patent number: 7324020
Abstract: The specification and drawings present a new method and apparatus for a touch actuation in an electronic device using a general purpose input board. The input board comprises of a grating of conductors running in one direction (y-lines). Between these conductors there are contacts connected to a grating running in the perpendicular direction a layer below (x-lines). The grating layers are separated by an insulating layer. Various known methods can be used to read the position of, e.g., a conductive actuator touching the input board. The input board can be used as a configurable UI board under a keymat. The input devices on the keymat can be a key, a joystick, a touchpad top membrane, etc. Also, the actuators can be made force-sensitive by detecting a contact surface area. In addition, all components of the general purpose input board can be made of materials substantially transparent to light.
