Publication number: 20060171103Abstract: The invention relates to a frame part of an installation casing comprising: an installation panel for receiving equipment to be installed and a frame plate. In order to achieve a structure, in which the equipment installed in the installation casing can be protected from external vibration, a space between the installation panel and/or the frame plate is provided with protruding dents, and the installation panel and the frame plate are joined together by means of the dents.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 3, 2006Publication date: August 3, 2006Applicant: ABB OYInventor: Matti Smalen

Patent number: 6305464Abstract: A method for manufacturing cooling elements for power electronic components and other cooling devices for electronic appliances, wherein molten metal is fed into a closed mould including a core part and a mould part. The metal is allowed to become solid whereafter the finished casting is removed from the mould. An insert package is assembled of lamellas made from a material which at least essentially corresponds to the casting material by pressing together several lamellas arranged next to one another such that an air slot remains between the lamellas arrranged next to one another such that an air slot remains between the lamellas. This insert package is machined such that it fits into a recess in the core part and the insert and the insert package is placed in the recess in the core part before closing the mould, whereby the package is fastened to the casting once the mould has been filled.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2000Date of Patent: October 23, 2001Assignee: ABB Industry OyInventors: Matti Smalén, Erkki Miettinen

Patent number: 5379768Abstract: The invention relates to a supporting cushion intended for aligning or positioning the RF-coils of a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus and a patient, which cushion can serve as a part of the RF-coil and which is capable of providing a support for the RF-coil and the patient in accordance with the anatomy of an individual patient. Air is pumped in the cushion for giving the supporting cushion a desired thickness. The cushion is placed against the RF-coil in a manner that, by pumping air therein, said cushion presses the soft and yielding RF-coil against the patient. The cushion can be used e.g. in back and neck coils. The cushion can also be fitted between a patient's supporting rest and a patient in a manner that a section of the patient to be imaged is immobilized for the duration of imaging. For example, the head can be supported or braced this way by fitting the cushion between the head and a head rest.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1992Date of Patent: January 10, 1995Assignee: Picker Nordstar, Inc.Inventor: Matti Smalen

Patent number: 5197474Abstract: A mechanism for transporting a patient to a magnetic resonance unit. A coil seat is mounted on the upper surface of a lower bed and the lower bed is mounted for movement relative to a magnet. An upper bed is mounted for movement on the lower bed. In the positioning stage, the coil is located outside of the magnet and the upper bed carrying a patient is moved relative to the lower bed to position the patient in registry with the coil, such that a desired anatomical area is brought into the imaging area of the coil. This is followed by pushing the upper and lower beds as a unit into the bore of the magnet. As various coils can be positioned on the lower bed at a common positioning location, it is possible to employ a common electric connection to eliminate the need for separately attachable cables.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1991Date of Patent: March 30, 1993Assignee: Instrumentarium Corp.Inventors: Rurik Englund, Pentti Nummi, Maija Nurmirinta, Markku Seppanen, Matti Smalen, Juha Virtanen, Yrjo Yrjola

Patent number: 4757968Abstract: An apparatus for the implementation of a vertical movement for a chair, especially a patient chair is disclosed. This apparatus comprises a lift column (1) with an upper end suitable for mounting a chair, a tubular shell construction (2) against which the lift column (1) is telescopically supported, a threaded member (5) whose rotation enables elevation and lowering of the lift column (1), and a motor (4) for rotating the threaded member (5). In the apparatus according the lift column (1) has a polygonal cross section, and it receives for each of its sides a support incorporating a spring action and sliding bearing contact by support braces (3) mounted to the inner surface of the shell construction (2). The apparatus achieves a vibration-free lift movement.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1987Date of Patent: July 19, 1988Assignee: Orion-Yhtyma OyInventors: Ilmari Kinanen, Matti Smalen
