  • Publication number: 20040159423
Abstract: The present invention relates to the improvements of the performance of an evapo-rator, specifically adapted for a natural convection system. The evaporator com-prises tubes (11) intended to contain a refrigerant to be evaporated. An apparatus (13) is arranged inside at least one of the tubes and comprises means (21) for disin-tegrating vapour bubbles (27′) of a gaseous phase of the refrigerant inside the tube (11) during operation of the evaporator. Small vapour bubbles can much easier move through the liquid compared to big vapour bubbles, which easily get stuck in the tube thereby obstructing the movement of other vapour bubbles. Thus, by breaking up big bubbles into smaller bubbles the flow through the tubes (11) is in-creased as well as the heat emitting surfaces of the vapour bubbles (27″).

  • Patent number: 5966951
Abstract: A refrigerator cabinet operated by an absorption refrigerating apparatus has a freezing compartment cooled by an upper part of an evaporator of the apparatus and a refrigerating compartment that is cooled by a lower part of the evaporator. The temperature in the refrigerating compartment is kept at a set value by activating or shutting off the refrigerating apparatus. The upper part of the evaporator is provided with a thermally conductive plate for cooling the freezing compartment. The temperature in the freezing compartment is kept at a set value by heat transfer to the plate. For example, a variable speed fan in the freezing compartment moves the air through a duct and past the plate. A film heater on the plate is used for defrosting and for controlling temperature in the freezing compartment.

  • Patent number: 5634353
Abstract: A dehumidifier (10) for air comprises an absorption refrigerating apparatus, the evaporator (14) of which being arranged in a first duct (22), through which the air by natural convection flows past the evaporator (14) and is refrigerated by it, so that the humidity in the air condenses on the evaporator (14). An absorber (16) and a condenser (20) of the apparatus are arranged in a second duct (26) and there heat extra air taken in from the room to the second duct (26) through an opening (34) and by natural convection flowing upwards through the second duct (26). An opening (32) is arranged between the ducts (22, 26), through which air which has been refrigerated and dehumidified in the first duct (22) flows into the second duct (26) and is there intermixed with the the flow of said extra air.
