Abstract: A filtering device for filtering water and liquids in general comprises a first reservoir for collecting the water to be filtered, a second reservoir for collecting the filtered water, which reservoir is supplied by falling from the first reservoir, a conduit which extends from the first reservoir into the second reservoir, a cartridge type filtering element which is removably received in the conduit, a discharge hole for the filtered water that is positioned between the conduit and the second reservoir, and at least one opening for access to the cartridge provided at an end of the conduit that is distal from the first reservoir in order to promote the removal thereof. The device comprises an at least partial closure which can be removably fitted to the conduit in the region of the opening for access to the cartridge and comprises a flow adjuster which is associated with the conduit in order to adjust the flow of water flowing from the first reservoir to the second reservoir through the discharge hole.

Abstract: A method of determination of the conditions of exhaustion of a filtering cartridge for filtering carafes with replaceable cartridges is described, in which an initial identification of impedance of the water to be filtered is provided for in order to consequently calculate an important parameter for definition of the efficient lifespan on the filtering cartridge. Furthermore a carafe operating in compliance with such method is also described.

Abstract: A replaceable cartridge type filter for filtering systems for processing drinking water includes a casing for containing the filtering material which extends externally from an annular edge which defines a sealing surface, which is provided so as to engage in a sealing manner with a corresponding seat for receiving and retaining the cartridge so as to identify an upstream portion and a downstream portion of the cartridge which communicate with each other only by way of the cartridge. At the annular edge the filter comprises a deformable seal, whose deformability under load is substantially greater than the deformability of the edge.

Abstract: A replaceable cartridge filtering jug includes a device for counting and displaying the filtering cycles performed by the cartridge to indicate that the cartridge is exhausted at the end of a period corresponding to its efficient useful life. An auxiliary counting and display device is also included which is capable of counting the filtering cycles performed in a subsidiary period of the period to indicate an item of data representing the temporary efficiency of the cartridge in the subsidiary period.

The cartridge includes a first chamber in which there is provided filtering material which is able to filter water or liquids in general and in which there are defined an inlet and an outlet to allow the passage of water through the first chamber in contact with the filtering material. The cartridge also includes a second chamber which communicates with the first chamber in order to collect the water being discharged from the first chamber. The second chamber includes an opening for discharging the water from the cartridge. The discharge opening is open in the second chamber at a level that is higher than a base of the second chamber, in which the water being discharged from the first chamber is collected.
