Publication number: 20080185565Abstract: A fence and an installation method for a fence or other laterally extending structure, the installation method comprising in one embodiment: obtaining a trench in ground, the trench extending laterally with a top of the trench having a first opening width, and having a first bottom surface; obtaining a hole in the first bottom surface of the trench with an approximate diameter that is at least fifty percent smaller than the first opening width; installing a support post in the hole to extend up above the top of the trench; disposing laterally extending panels at substantially the first bottom surface of the trench and attaching them to approximately opposing ends of a diameter of the post to thereby create a void volume between the panels at least on one side of the post; installing at least one retainer connecting to the panels across the void volume; and filling the void volume with stones or other fill material.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2007Publication date: August 7, 2008Inventors: Robert W. Patent number: 7105036Abstract: A drift eliminator is provided in which water laden air which enters the drift eliminator exits the drift eliminator having less than about 0.01% of water by volume therein. The drift eliminator is formed of sheets which are manufactured such that they can be nested in each other to create substantially no gap between sheets of adjacent air channel modules. As a result, a plurality of air channel modules can be combined, by nesting, to create a larger drift eliminator, without sacrificing the precision to which entrained water may be removed from air passing through the drift eliminator. In an alternate embodiment, a light trap is also provided which enables air, but substantially no light, to pass through air channels formed therein.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2003Date of Patent: September 12, 2006Assignee: C. E. Shepherd Co., Inc.Inventor: Gregory Maury Shepherd

Patent number: 4576764Abstract: The fill slat for use in water cooling towers comprises a perforated body portion, a central longitudinal rib, and downwardly inclined side flanges. The rib is inverted v-shape in cross-section and functions as a rigidifying beam for the fill slat. The rib is open at its bottom, thereby permitting a plurality of fill slats to be nested to reduce shipping costs. The side flanges are formed with slots, certain of which are angled, to receive the supporting wires. A holding clip can be additionally provided to reduce rolling or longitudinal movement of the fill slat.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 1984Date of Patent: March 18, 1986Assignee: C. E. Shepherd CompanyInventors: G. Maury Shepherd, Charles E. Shepherd
