  • Patent number: 5285969
Abstract: An electromagnetically operated fuel injection valve has a valve housing, a valve seat body having a valve seat and a guide cylinder, a valve closing element projecting in the guide cylinder and supporting a ball type valve closing body around which fuel can flow through spiral flutes in which the valve closing element releases or interrupts a fuel flow by sitting on or lifting off the valve seat. The valve seat body in addition to the guide cylinder and the valve seat, also contains at least one outlet orifice. The valve seat body is provided with an all-round spiral flute between the guide cylinder and the valve seat.

  • Patent number: 4967966
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable valve having a connection fitting serving as a core and on which a magnet coil is disposed, is produced with a non-bulky valve housing of ferromagnetic metal. This valve housing is simple to manufacture with a reduced external valve size. The valve is provided with a plastic sheathing that surrounds not only a connection fitting but also a magnet coil and at least in the region surrounding the magnet coil includes a ferromagnetic element that conducts magnetic field lines. These ferromagnetic elements are embodied by conducting elements and optionally by fillers having ferromagnetic properties, which at least partly surround the magnet coil in the circumferential direction. This embodiment of the valve is suitable for all types of electromagnetically actuatable components.

  • Patent number: 4826082
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable fuel injection valve which has an internal scavenging system for cleaning dirt particles from a magnetic field air gap. A portion of the fuel flowing in via an inflow line and an inflow opening reaches the vicinity of an air gap defined on one side by an armature and on the other by magnetic poles and flows through this gap, and then flows via an outflow opening to enter an outflow line that communicates with a fuel return. As a result of the described scavenging of the air gap, dirt particles are prevented from becoming firmly attached there and causing impairment of the performance of the fuel injection valve.

  • Patent number: 4813599
Abstract: The invention relates to an electromagnetically actuatable fuel injection valve which is used to supply fuel to a mixture compressing internal combustion engine. The fuel injection valve comprises a valve housing provided with an extension in which a valve seat body is disposed. A magnetic coil is mounted on each of the pole parts and a permanent magnet is disposed between the poles of the pole parts. The valve seat body is connected to a guide via a collet. The guide, collet and valve seat body are penetrated by a valve needle which is connected at its one end to an armature and which, at its other end, ends in a closing end. In the guide is a guide bore which is adapted to radially guide a spherical head portion of the valve needle and which then tapers into an abutment face, against which face the valve needle rests by way of the head when the injection valve is open. To open the valve, the valve needle is moved outwardly, thereby uncovering an ejection opening between a valve seat and the closing head.

  • Patent number: 4807846
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable fuel injection valve which serves to supply fuel to a mixture-compressing internal combustion engine having externally supplied ignition. The fuel injection valve includes a valve housing with a mouth piece in which a valve seat body is disposed, two magnet coils two cores and one armature, which has a spherical guide section and is connected to a valve needle. The spherical guide section is slidably supported with its circumference in a guide bore of the valve seat body and in its stroke movement away from the core is limited by a tapering stop opening which adjoins the guide bore. A plastic bushing is mounted on a guide step of the valve seat body and is pressed by a spring against the core end face, thereby preventing a dirct flow of fuel to the remnant air gap on the armature, as a result of which the depositing of soil particles in the gap is avoided.

  • Patent number: 4438746
Abstract: An rpm governor of a fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines is proposed. The rpm governor includes a governor spring, which at one end engages a governor lever of the fuel injection pump and at the other end engages a correction lever. The other end of the correction lever is engaged by a correction spring, which is coupled at its other end with an adjusting member secured eccentrically relative to an adjusting shaft on an adjusting lever. The adjusting lever is connected with the adjusting shaft and is variable in its position by means of this shaft. The correction lever is supported between a roller and an adjusting gear wheel, which engages a rack zone of the correction lever. By rotating the adjusting gear wheel, the lever arms associated with the governor spring and the correction spring can be varied, thus varying the resultant spring force or spring constant engaging the governor lever in order to establish the degree of proportionality of the rpm governor.

  • Patent number: 4426988
Abstract: A control device with an electric servo motor is proposed, by means of which a throttle device can be operated, which opens, to a greater or lesser degree, the passage diameter of a flow line, especially the passage diameter of a by-pass line around a throttle valve disposed in the intake line of an internal combustion engine. The control device has an elastic element which moves the throttle device, during an interruption of the current supply to the electric servo motor into a defined position opening the passage diameter of the flow line.

  • Patent number: 4426981
Abstract: A fuel quantity measuring apparatus, preferably for a Diesel engine, is proposed in which the course of the fuel pressure is evaluated. A specialized pressure gradient of a first polarity marks the onset of supply or injection, and the maximum of the pressure gradient of the other polarity represents the end of injection or supply. The question of which designation prevails, whether injection onset and end or supply onset and end, is determined by the measurement location, that is, whether it is in the direction of the injection valve or in the direction of the supply element of the fuel supply pump. The injection quantity, for example, may be determined via the integral of the pressure during the metering period. It is recommended, when a piezoelectric pressure receptor is used, that a resistor-capacitor element be switched parallel thereto.

  • Patent number: 4373496
Abstract: An apparatus is proposed for controlling an exhaust recirculation device in internal combustion engines, in which a throttle device in an exhaust recirculation line is opened on the condition that the position of the load-adjusting lever of a fuel injection pump associated with the engine falls below a maximum load position and that the adjusting member of an rpm governor of the fuel injection pump is below a predetermined deflection position and/or is operated above a lower rpm value. With an embodiment of this kind, the control of exhaust recirculation quantities can be performed in a simple and functionally reliable manner for the various operational points of the engine with the greatest possible approximation of the permissible values.

  • Patent number: 4273091
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines is proposed in which cavitation is avoided at the sealing surface between a threaded connection element which contains the pressure valve and a securing flange of the pressure valve housing which protrudes radially outwardly therefrom. The securing flange is attached to a cylindrical portion on the end of the valve housing remote from the pressure line leading to the injection nozzle and a sealing member is fitted into an intermediate chamber between the cylindrical portion and an inner wall of the threaded connection element. This sealing member is pressed with at least one annular contact surface onto the cylindrical housing portion and with a different contact surface, axially displaced with respect to the first, is pressed against the threaded connection element. The sealing member may be embodied as a thin-walled sheet-metal sleeve, may comprise a spiral spring, or may be made of plastic.

  • Patent number: 4237079
Abstract: A fuel supply device is proposed which serves to supply fuel to a mixture-compressing, externally ignited internal combustion engine with a good distribution of the fuel-air mixture. The fuel supply device includes a fuel metering device activated by an air metering device arranged in the air intake manifold of the internal combustion engine with the fuel metering device being connected to an air line in which the metered fuel is mixed with air before the injection into the air intake manifold. Between the air line and the fuel line, upstream from the fuel metering position, a filter having a fine-meshed weave is arranged by means of which the fuel is prevented from flowing out over the air line in an undesirable manner.
